Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Linux programmer with Managed File Transmission (MFT) automation experience to join our team.

Our client supports centralized Managed File Transmission support and automation for our customer’s various business units. We support the MFT software, environment, and automation tools as well as partner with the business groups to develop and implement MFT solutions.

We are looking for a seasoned programmer with experience in file transmission processes and protocols. Our team develops and supports transmission automation on a variety of platforms so we are looking for someone with strong experience in Linux. We are a growing area that must adapt well to change. This person will work with other senior level Programmer Analysts supporting Linux/UNIX and, Windows. This is a critical role for an experienced programmer analyst who has diplomacy, excellent customer service and communication skills, and can handle the pressure of frequent direct interaction with external customers.

The team member must be able to meet with customers to gather the requirements of the transmission request. This often involves helping the customer understand what options are available to them. The team member is then involved in all aspects of the process - design solutions, code, test, troubleshoot, document, provide on-call support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Set up SFTP accounts and parameters along with shell and Perl programing routines to automate file transmissions.
  • Configure Connect: Direct and file agent scripts to facilitate automation scripts.
  • Work with various network, firewall and system administrators to establish TCP/IP connectivity and troubleshoot FTP connectivity issues
  • Assist and mentor others on the team and follow established methodology procedures
  • Provides 24x7 support for the transmission processes in addition to on- call rotations
  • Work scheduled weekend and night hours for supporting maintenance window installations and testing
  • Take direction from project leads as well as performing the tasks of project lead

Requirements

  • Experience with Unix/Linux application support and programming (Bash shell/Korn shell, Perl)
  • Experience with the following FTP protocols – SFTP/SSH, FTPS/SSL, HTTP/s and PGP/GPG
  • experience working with TCPIP connectivity setups and troubleshooting, Managed File Transfer (MFT)
  • Strong problem determination/analysis skills
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks/projects under inflexible time commitments
  • Strong writing skills and strong interpersonal/team skills

Preferences

  • Previous experience with Sterling Commerce (now IBM) products: Connect: Direct, Sterling File Gateway, Cleo Harmony or other MFT applications (not required but ideal candidate will have this experience)
  • C Programming
  • Java
  • Google Cloud Platform and GCS Bucket storage experience
  • Cloud architecture experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Point and Visio
  • Experience with Microsoft Office family of products (Word, Excel, Office)

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 03/11/2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $99000 - $116000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
