By combining deep industry knowledge with technology‑led advisory capabilities, we partner with clients to design and deliver meaningful transformation at scale.
About the Role:
As a Business Analyst – Water & Utilities, you will make an impact by partnering with clients across the water and wider utilities sector to shape and deliver business and technology transformation initiatives. You will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary consulting team, working closely with client stakeholders, delivery leads, and technology specialists to improve asset performance, operational efficiency, and regulatory outcomes.
In this role, you will:
• Lead end-to-end business analysis activities across asset management, operations, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements, translating complex operational needs into clear, actionable outcomes.
• Collaborate with IT and Operational Technology (OT) teams to support solutions across areas such as asset performance, telemetry, and control systems.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and working sessions, aligning business, regulatory, and technology perspectives.
• Support solution delivery through requirements traceability, testing support, and change control to help realise measurable business benefits.
Work Model:
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position, requiring time in a client or Cognizant office in London. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our wellbeing programs. The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you’re engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured, we will always be clear about role expectations.
What you need to have to be considered:
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the water, energy, or utilities sector.
• Strong understanding of asset management processes, including asset lifecycle planning, maintenance, and performance optimisation.
• Experience working with or alongside Operational Technology (OT) environments such as SCADA, telemetry, or plant control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality requirements, process models, and functional documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
These will help you stand out:
• Knowledge of ISO 55000, PAS 55, or other asset management standards.
• Experience working in regulated utilities environments, including exposure to Ofwat or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with asset management or enterprise systems such as Maximo, SAP PM, Ellipse, GIS, or data analytics platforms.
• Professional certifications such as BCS Business Analysis, IIBA CBAP, or equivalent.
We're excited to meet people who share our mission and can make an impact in a variety of ways. Don't hesitate to apply, even if you only meet the minimum requirements listed. Think about your transferable experiences and unique skills that make you stand out as someone who can bring new and exciting things to this role.
