About the role
As a Senior Developer – Java & Angular, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, high-performance full-stack applications that power business-critical solutions. You will be a valued member of the engineering team, collaborating with product owners, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver seamless digital experiences.

In this role, you will:
Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Angular (front end) and Java with Spring Boot (back end)
Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs to enable efficient and scalable data flow across systems
Translate business requirements into technical solutions, partnering with product managers and stakeholders
Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code aligned to engineering best practices and standards
Perform code reviews, implement unit testing, and ensure quality across UI and backend services

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. What you need to have to be considered:
8+ years of experience in full-stack development with Angular and Java (Spring Boot)
Strong expertise in TypeScript, ES6+, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI design
Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Solid understanding of component-based UI architecture and scalable application design
Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and collaborative development practices
Proficiency with development tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, JIRA, and Confluence
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent
These will help you stand out:
Experience with UI test automation frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, or Cypress
Familiarity with BDD (Gherkin) and API testing tools
Knowledge of application performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
Experience interpreting wireframes, UX prototypes, and design systems
Domain knowledge in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance, including underwriting or policy administration workflows
Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $61,650 to $91,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
