Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager (.NET / Backend) to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend solutions that power transportation and logistics platforms. This role combines strong hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring a leader who can guide engineering teams while actively contributing to architecture and development decisions.
You will play a critical role in building high-performance APIs and data-driven systems using .NET Core, ASP.NET Web API, and SQL technologies, enabling efficient shipment planning, tracking, and billing processes for global users. The ideal candidate brings deep backend engineering experience, a passion for building reliable distributed systems, and the ability to mentor teams while driving high-quality delivery in an Agile environment.
About the Role
As an Engineering Manager (.NET / Backend), you will act as a player-coach, balancing technical leadership with team management. You will take ownership of backend architecture, guide engineering best practices, and ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing services that support critical logistics operations.
You will work closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. Your responsibilities will include leading API design standards, optimizing database performance, driving DevOps practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

In this role, you will:
· Lead end to end design and development of scalable Product Manager - RT Manager that power transportation and logistics platforms and ensure consistent high quality delivery of features for global users.
· Oversee the translation of complex transportation and logistics business requirements into efficient .Net Core and SQL based technical solutions that streamline shipment planning tracking and billing processes.
· Provide technical direction on API design standards covering versioning authentication validation and error handling so that services remain secure maintainable and easy to integrate with partner systems.
· Guide the team in designing and optimizing SQL schemas queries and stored procedures to support high volume transactional logistics data while maintaining strong performance and reliability.
· Coordinate sprint planning backlog grooming and estimation activities to ensure that engineering commitments align with stakeholder expectations timelines and hybrid working arrangements.
· Mentor engineers through regular code reviews technical design discussions and pair programming sessions to build strong engineering practices in ASP.NET Core Web API and .Net Core development.
· Drive adoption of automated testing strategies including unit integration and API contract tests that improve release confidence and reduce defects in production logistics applications.
· Implement and refine continuous integration and deployment pipelines so that transport and logistics services can be released frequently with predictable quality and minimal manual intervention.
· Collaborate with product managers architects and operations teams to prioritize features that enhance route efficiency shipment visibility and operational cost optimization for customers.
· Monitor production systems and key performance indicators such as API response times and database performance and coordinate timely resolution of incidents to minimize disruption to logistics operations.
· Establish clear coding standards documentation expectations and review practices that support knowledge sharing within the hybrid team and reduce onboarding time for new engineers.
· Engage with stakeholders from transportation operations finance and customer service to gather feedback and convert it into actionable engineering improvements that increase satisfaction and platform adoption.
· Ensure compliance with security privacy and regulatory expectations in all engineered solutions so that logistics data remains protected and trustworthy for partners and customers.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives that simplify system architecture reduce technical debt and increase the overall resilience of the transportation and logistics technology stack.
Work Model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in either Alpharetta. GA or Atlanta, GA.

Required Qualifications
· Strong hands on experience designing and building RESTful services using ASP.NET Core Web API including routing middleware configuration and secure data exchange.
· Deep practical knowledge of .Net Core ecosystem including asynchronous programming dependency injection configuration management and performance tuning in production systems.
· Proven expertise working with SQL databases including data modeling query optimization indexing strategies and troubleshooting of performance bottlenecks in large data sets.
· Substantial background in transportation and logistics processes such as order management shipment execution carrier integration and freight cost calculations applied within technology solutions.
· Prior experience managing or technically leading engineering teams of similar size and complexity with a focus on delivering enterprise grade backend services.
· Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and ability to manage hybrid teams that collaborate across locations and time zones.
· Knowledge of DevOps practices including source control branching strategies automated builds continuous deployment and infrastructure monitoring in cloud or data center environments.
· Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non technical partners by explaining design options tradeoffs and delivery risks in clear and concise terms.

Salary and Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until June 07th, 2026.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $70,000 – $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to applicable plan terms.
