Job summary
This role is for a GeoSpatial Developer Java with eight to ten years of experience working in a hybrid model during day shifts with no travel requirement. The role focuses on designing and developing secure scalable microservices on AWS using Java and Spring Boot to deliver reliable geospatial solutions that support business operations and create meaningful value for clients and communities.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust geospatial microservices using Java and Spring Boot that support high performance data processing for enterprise scale applications
- Implement scalable service architectures on AWS that handle complex spatial data and ensure reliable access for internal and external stakeholders
- Build and optimize REST based service endpoints that expose geospatial capabilities to client applications while maintaining clear service contracts
- Integrate geospatial data sources and spatial libraries into microservices in order to deliver accurate location based analytics and mapping functionality
- Apply secure coding practices for microservices and APIs so that data confidentiality integrity and availability are maintained across all environments
- Configure and use AWS services such as ECS Lambda API Gateway and RDS or equivalent to deploy and run fault tolerant geospatial solutions
- Create efficient data models and indexing strategies for spatial and non spatial data to improve query performance and response times
- Develop automated unit integration and component tests that validate microservice behavior and prevent regression issues in production environments
- Collaborate with product owners architects and other developers to refine requirements and translate complex geospatial needs into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by analyzing logs metrics and traces so that service availability and client satisfaction are maintained
- Document service designs APIs deployment procedures and operational guides so that other teams can easily understand support and extend the solutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices including code review automation and observability in order to enhance team efficiency
- Mentor peers by sharing best practices in Java microservices AWS and geospatial concepts so that overall team capability and solution quality increase
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor degree or higher in computer science information technology or a related field with substantial experience in enterprise application development
- Demonstrate eight to ten years of hands on software development experience with a strong focus on Java and Spring Boot for backend services
- Have proven expertise in designing and building microservices architectures including service decomposition interservice communication and resilience patterns
- Show practical experience working with AWS cloud services such as compute storage networking and managed databases within production environments
- Exhibit strong understanding of geospatial concepts spatial data formats coordinate systems and use of geospatial libraries or platforms
- Display solid knowledge of RESTful API design secure communication and best practices for authentication and authorization across services
- Possess experience with build and automation tools such as Maven Gradle Git and CI or CD pipelines to support reliable deployments in hybrid environments
- Bring familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and container management on AWS or equivalent platforms
- Have strong debugging and performance tuning skills that enable efficient resolution of issues in distributed microservice based systems
- Show ability to collaborate effectively in hybrid work settings using modern communication tools and agile practices to deliver incremental value
- Prefer experience with monitoring logging and tracing solutions so that service health and performance can be observed and improved continuously
- Value is placed on experience in data driven or map centric applications where geospatial capabilities directly support business decisions and societal impact
