Geospatial Data Technician

As a Geospatial Data Technician, you will make an impact by supporting the assessment, manipulation, and enhancement of geospatial datasets used to improve mapping accuracy and data quality. You will leverage your GIS expertise to evaluate, process, and maintain geospatial information while collaborating with internal teams and external geospatial data providers.

You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of mapping data, contributing to high-quality geospatial solutions and operational excellence.

In this role, you will

• Manipulate and maintain geospatial datasets using ArcGIS, QGIS, and other mapping tools.
• Evaluate geospatial datasets for quality, freshness, accuracy, and compliance with project standards.
• Research and assess open-source geospatial basemap datasets to determine suitability and quality.
• Respond to inquiries from geospatial data providers and partners using industry knowledge and a customer-focused approach.
• Utilize GIS tools and mapping expertise to improve mapping accuracy and implement data edits.
• Analyze mapping data and make decisions based on established policies and workflows.
• Execute quality assurance processes and utilize QA tools to validate data integrity.
• Accurately enter and maintain mapping metadata and other required information.
• Proactively identify, escalate, and help resolve systemic issues related to tools, processes, and data quality.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational objectives.

Work Model: Onsite

What you need to have to be considered

• English proficiency at B2 level or above.
• Experience with GIS data processing.
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar geospatial mapping platforms.
• Ability to analyze shapefiles and other standard geospatial data formats for quality and accuracy.
• Knowledge of geographic coordinate systems, map projections, and associated standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing priorities.
• Self-motivated mindset with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, empathetic, and customer-focused communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

These will help you stand out

• Degree, coursework, or certification in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, GIS, Cartography, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
• Experience working with third-party geospatial data providers.
• Familiarity with geospatial quality assurance methodologies and best practices.
• Experience researching and validating open-source mapping datasets.
• Knowledge of mapping data standards and metadata management.
• Experience supporting customer-facing GIS operations or geospatial data projects.
