The position works under the direction of technical leads/architects and is based in India. Responsibilities *Serve as the primary technical escalation point for Senior Engineers in engagement. Mentor others in engagement and is responsible for managing internal handoffs of responsibilities. *Engineering & Escalation Support: Own troubleshooting for Azure security and governance issues (policy/initiative evaluation RBAC/role assignment access issues Key Vault access Defender for Cloud recommendations/alerts Purview label/DLP behavior retention/records processing). Perform root cause analysis document findings and implement corrective actions under change control. *Collaboration & Handoffs: Work closely with onshore leads/architects security operations identity infrastructure and application teams to execute assigned work packages. Provide clear status updates validate dependencies and ensure smooth operational handoffs to support teams. *Project Delivery (Execution Focus): Deliver scoped engineering tasks aligned to project plans (builds configuration changes testing pilot support remediation and deployment activities). Track work items raise risks early and support cutovers and post-deployment stabilization to meet SLAs and project milestones. *Azure Security Controls Implementation: Configure and support Azure security capabilities based on defined standards including Azure Policy/Initiatives management group/subscription guardrails Azure RBAC/PIM support resource locks logging/diagnostic settings Key Vault configuration and security posture management using Microsoft Defender for Cloud. Validate configurations through testing and assist with operational transition. *Microsoft Purview & Data Governance: Implement and support Purview capabilities such as information protection (sensitivity labels) Data Loss Prevention retention/records management eDiscovery support workflows and data classification patterns across Microsoft 365 and supported data sources. Assist with evidence gathering for audits and support incident response activities as needed. *AI Governance & Continuous Improvement: Support responsible AI enablement by helping implement governance controls and guardrails (policy standards logging/monitoring requirements data handling rules for AI use cases access controls and review processes) aligned to organizational guidance. Create and maintain runbooks SOPs troubleshooting guides and knowledge articles identify automation/standardization opportunities (PowerShell Azure CLI Microsoft Graph) to improve reliability and reduce manual effort. Required Qualifications *Experience: 10+ years in IT/security with 5+ years focused on Azure security compliance and/or governance. Demonstrated experience supporting production environments handling escalations and executing project work with minimal supervision. *Azure Security Fundamentals: Strong hands-on experience with Azure security concepts and controls including management groups/subscriptions Azure Policy/Initiatives Azure RBAC resource locks Key Vault access patterns logging/diagnostic settings and security posture management using Microsoft Defender for Cloud. *Identity & Access (Working Knowledge): Practical understanding of Entra ID concepts that impact Azure security and governance (roles groups Conditional Access fundamentals least privilege). Experience supporting privileged access workflows (e.g. PIM) is a plus. *Microsoft Purview: Hands-on experience implementing or supporting Purview capabilities such as sensitivity labels DLP retention/records and basic eDiscovery workflows. Ability to troubleshoot policy behavior and user impact and coordinate remediation with stakeholders. *Security Operations & Monitoring (Working Knowledge): Familiarity with alert triage and investigation concepts and the signals produced by Microsoft security tools. Working knowledge of KQL and log-based troubleshooting in Azure Monitor/Log Analytics (and/or Microsoft Sentinel) is preferred. *Automation & Scripting: Working knowledge of PowerShell and/or Azure CLI for operational tasks reporting and repeatable changes. Familiarity with Microsoft Graph and Infrastructure as Code concepts (ARM templates Bicep Terraform) and ability to troubleshoot deployments. *Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting mindset attention to detail and clear written/verbal communication. Ability to document work thoroughly collaborate across time zones and manage multiple tickets/tasks while meeting SLAs. *Certifications: Microsoft certifications are preferred. *Examples: AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate) SC-400 (Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention Administrator). Additional relevant certifications may include SC-200 SC-300 and AZ-104. Preferred Qualifications *Microsoft Sentinel / SOAR: Experience onboarding data sources building analytics rules tuning alert noise and creating workbooks/automation (Logic Apps) for repeatable response workflows. *Advanced Purview & Data Governance: Experience with Purview data map/catalog and scanning Insider Risk Management concepts Communication Compliance advanced DLP scenarios and integrating governance controls across endpoints M365 and cloud data stores. *Risk Compliance & AI Governance Practices: Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001 NIST SOC 2) and translating requirements into technical controls. Exposure to AI governance concepts (acceptable use data minimization model access controls auditability) is a plus. *DevSecOps / IaC Tooling: Experience working with CI/CD pipelines for security and governance guardrails policy-as-code approaches (Azure Policy) and IaC automation (Terraform/Bicep) for secure-by-default deployments.
