Azure AD B2C Identity Engineer
About the Role
As an Azure AD B2C Identity Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and supporting secure customer identity and access management solutions using Azure AD B2C and Microsoft identity technologies. You will be a valued member of the Identity and Access Management team and work collaboratively with application teams, security teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and seamless authentication experiences.
In this role, you will provide hands-on expertise in Azure AD B2C custom policy development, identity federation, single sign-on (SSO), and troubleshooting while helping ensure reliable and compliant identity solutions across enterprise applications.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, develop, and support Azure AD B2C identity solutions using Identity Experience Framework (IEF) custom policies and XML configurations.
- Build and maintain custom policies, including claims providers, technical profiles, user journeys, orchestration steps, claims transformations, and relying party policies.
- Implement federation and single sign-on (SSO) integrations using OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and external identity provider connections.
- Configure and manage Azure AD B2C applications, app registrations, redirect URIs, certificates, secrets, token claims, and session management policies.
- Troubleshoot authentication, authorization, policy execution, and token-related issues using Application Insights, logging tools, JWT analysis, and diagnostic frameworks.
- Develop and support REST API technical profiles and custom integrations within Azure AD B2C environments.
- Review, update, and enhance existing custom-policy XML configurations to improve functionality, performance, and security.
- Support testing, deployment, and migration activities across development, test, staging, and production environments.
- Partner with IAM, application development, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver enterprise identity solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, best practices, and troubleshooting support throughout the identity solution lifecycle.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, authorization, or identity platform engineering.
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure AD B2C and Identity Experience Framework (IEF) custom policy development.
- Extensive experience working with custom-policy XML, including claims providers, technical profiles, orchestration steps, claims transformations, and relying party policies.
- Strong experience implementing identity federation and SSO using OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, and SAML.
- Experience integrating external identity providers and enterprise identity platforms.
- Expertise in Azure AD B2C application registrations, redirect URIs, certificates, secrets, token claims, and session management.
- Experience developing and configuring REST API technical profiles within Azure AD B2C.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to authentication flows, policy execution, token validation, and identity platform integrations.
- Experience using Application Insights, logging platforms, JWT analysis tools, and diagnostic utilities.
- Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience with Microsoft Entra External ID implementations and migration strategies.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles and modern identity architecture patterns.
- Experience supporting multi-application SSO ecosystems and enterprise federation strategies.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services, API security, and application security best practices.
- Experience automating identity platform deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and DevOps pipelines.
- Microsoft certifications related to Identity, Security, Azure, or Microsoft Entra technologies.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as Healthcare, Financial Services, Insurance, or Government.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is anticipated to be between $110,000 and $135,000, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, skills, and other job-related factors.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
