AI Aware Data engineer
About the Role
Work as an AI aware data engineer with eight to twelve years of experience designing and optimizing data solutions across Oracle PostgreSQL and Azure based platforms while ensuring robust integration with C sharp services and enterprise pipelines. Contribute to secure scalable data flows that support insurance analytics for life and annuities products.
In This Role, You Will
· Design efficient data models and integration patterns across Oracle and PostgreSQL environments to enable high quality analytics outcomes for enterprise business users in a hybrid work setting.
· Develop and optimize C sharp based data services that interact with Oracle and PostgreSQL repositories to deliver reliable and reusable data access components for downstream applications.
· Build and maintain scalable pipelines using Azure Data Factory that orchestrate ingestion transformation and loading of diverse structured and semi structured data sources into target data platforms.
· Configure and enhance Microsoft SSIS packages to support complex extraction and transformation routines while improving maintainability and operational resilience of legacy and modern data workflows.
· Implement advanced PL SQL procedures functions and packages to support data validation complex business logic and high volume transaction processing without compromising performance or data quality.
· Monitor troubleshoot and tune end to end data processes across Azure Data Factory Microsoft SSIS Oracle and PostgreSQL to reduce failures optimize run times and improve resource utilization.
· Collaborate with architecture and application teams to design secure compliant and extensible data solutions that align with enterprise standards and enable responsible AI ready data consumption.
· Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and data flow diagrams that clarify dependencies transformation rules and operational procedures for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
· Apply AI aware practices by preparing well curated feature ready datasets and metadata that support machine learning experiments dashboards and predictive models used by business teams.
· Ensure robust data quality and governance by defining validation rules reconciliation checks and exception handling mechanisms that protect customer information and regulatory compliance.
· Contribute to business initiatives in life and annuities insurance by translating policy product and claims concepts into data structures and metrics that offer meaningful insights for decision makers.
· Coordinate with testers and operations teams to plan deployments validate releases and implement monitoring alerts that enhance reliability of day shift production environments without requiring travel.
· Communicate clearly in English through design reviews status updates and issue resolution discussions to ensure shared understanding and alignment among distributed project stakeholder

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
· Exhibit strong proficiency in Oracle database engineering with hands on experience in schema design performance tuning partitioning and PL SQL programming for complex transactional workloads.
· Demonstrate advanced skills in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft SSIS including pipeline design parameterization scheduling and integration with diverse on premises and cloud data sources.
· Apply practical expertise in PostgreSQL administration and query optimization using indexes constraints and efficient execution strategies to support analytics and reporting needs.
· Show solid capability in C sharp for building data centric services api integrations and utilities that interface with relational databases and cloud data platforms.
· Utilize thorough understanding of PL SQL and procedural patterns to implement maintainable modular and testable data logic that supports enterprise scale applications.
· Leverage working knowledge of life and annuities insurance concepts such as policies premiums claims and reserves to design data structures that reflect business reality and reporting requirements.
· Demonstrate fluent English reading writing and speaking skills to document solutions explain complex data topics and collaborate effectively in hybrid meetings and remote interactions.
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $88,000 - $135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
