Software Engineer Manager

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline Master's degree preferred An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree

Responsibility:

Product Vision Strategy and Roadmap:

  • Conduct market and competitors' analysis and identify various product features.
  • Participate in product envisioning discussions and provide inputs from development perspective which will help in shaping up overall product strategy.
  • Incorporate all changes for the product roadmap and release plans.
  • Create product roadmap based on product characteristics such as usability consistency security etc and the product development strategy (tools identification / framework / approach skill gap identification / resources) based on the overall strategy.

Product Planning:

  • Create realistic estimates for Product Development team with the right skillset and expertise.
  • Prepare product (major or minor) release plan based on overall estimation and cross functional dependencies.
  • Identify milestone resource requirement skills cross functional dependencies etc.

Products Requirements:

  • Actively participate in requirements analysis meetings and provide inputs to Product Management Group.
  • Identify POC requirements and seek sign off from Product Management Group.
  • Guide the team to create POC analyze the findings and share the same with the Senior Development Manager and Product Management Group.
  • Monitor adjustment of product suite against the market trends and provide approval for the enhancements if required.
  • Work with the product management team in defining and prioritizing product (functional and non functional) requirements.
  • Interact with business teams to track functionality adherence.

Product Design and Development:

  • Review and sign off on product design document.
  • Prioritize and supervise and track development / QA activities such as architecture design prototyping code implementation trouble shooting and functional testing of product features.
  • Institutionalize the development process and track metrics / benchmarks to ensure the quality release of the product This role may include responsibilities of people management.

Build and Release Management:

  • Facilitate cross functional communication between the Build Management team and Engineering team to ensure quick resolution of build issues and deployment of appropriate product packages on various environments.
  • Guide the Build Management team and Engineering team to ensure execution of build and release plans configuration and continuous integration activities and quick resolution of build issues and deployment of appropriate product packages on various environments.

Product Testing:

  • Provide technical guidance to the team regarding functional and non functional testing.
  • Review the test plan created by the team.
  • Coordinate the Unit testing Alpha testing Beta testing and Market Rollout testing and facilitate communication between cross functional teams for timely resolution of defects and smooth sign offs.

Product Training and Documentation:

  • Drive the maintenance of baseline documentation and all desired documentation for SOX compliance/audits.
  • Review content/ manual created by technical writer.
  • Create the release notes and share it with the build team.

Product Sign Offs:

  • Seek sign off from Product Sponsor on key deliverables product roadmap release plan product marketing requirements functional specifications architecture user experience product's Alpha release Beta release Market Rollout and product decommissioning.

Project Management:

  • Identify relevant project management methodology (eg adaptive agile feature driven) based on project needs.
  • Lead the Product team in the planning and development of product schedules critical milestones processes operational readiness and product reviews.
  • Create implement and track project plans for the timely development and implementation of product features / enhancements.
  • Review project status and share the same with key stakeholders.
  • Identify ways to mitigate the identified projects risks.
  • Facilitate the communications and awareness of product's project plan with cross functional teams.
