Summary of the role:

· The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist, as part of the Resilience, EHS and ESG department, is accountable for maintaining Cognizant’s Environment, Health and Safety standards, ISO14001 an ISO45001 certifications and ensuring compliance with local Wellbeing at work regulations.

· As an EHS Specialist, you act as the point of support and escalation for all Environment, Health & Safety matters, manage the security and awareness of the employees and take appropriate measures, in collaboration with the EHS Lead for Europe, to comply with safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as support liaison for assigned country with the compliance of the EHS programs & requirements.
  • Conduct regular EHS site inspections with rigor and consistency, identifying deficiencies and ways of improvements.
  • Check site EHS conditions and coach the site teams as needed in site EHS Plan implementation and problem solving.
  • Provide a EHS daily support to Operational People from Romania and Manage Client Audits: EHS topics.
  • Close follow-up of the EHS KPI providing on-site experience.
  • Organizes and carries out training on Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Situations and Environmental Protection and waste management for all company employees, according to the management's decision.
  • Coordinates the activity of the Safety and Health at Work Committee at the company level
  • Implement and standardize EHS process (e.g. EHS Cultural program, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and response, etc…)
  • Identify, investigate and share best practices, safety tips and lessons learned across the country. Support site teams to develop best practice from others.
  • Manage all the EHS incidents. Investigate and analysis of all accidents or hazardous situations. Identify trends and causes, as well as follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage all the EHS requirement in the opening of new workplace sites, such as formal communication to local authorities, license EHS requirements, Certificates, Site Inspections, etc…
  • Ensure all internal and external EHS reporting is completed on time and with accuracy.
  • Lead the ISO 45001 and 14001 certifications across the Country.
  • Ensure and monitor the compliance of the EHS legal requirements for Romania
  • Coordinate EHS Requirements with Clients, Vendors and Contractors.
  • Be an intermediary between senior management and employees in terms of EHS.
  • Perform local wellbeing campaigns.
  • Coordinate and organize annual periodic medical check-up
  • Monitoring and review of the energetic audit and corrective actions, communication and campaigns.
  • Ensure the ESG Data (Net Zero Cloud App) is maintain with accuracy and on time.
  • Manage the EHS annual budget for the country.
  • Responsible for Civil Protection
  • Participate in the Internal EHS audits Programme on an EMEA level. Coordinate and lead the External EHS Audit for the country.

Minimum training required in OHS for the position:

  • Course in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Postgraduate course of Risk Assessor and Auditor in the field of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Technical executive with duties in the field of emergency situations

Also required

  • Graduate with diploma / certification in industrial EHS,
  • In depth experience in industrial safety, health and environment
  • Auditor for ISO-14001 & ISO-45001,NEBOSH Certificate
