Site Reliability Engineer (Hybrid)

We are looking for a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Cloud Native technologies, AWS, and SRE practices. This role encompasses leadership responsibilities, including system design, technical reviews, and performance assessments focused on availability, reliability, and resiliency. By ensuring robust and efficient system operations, the candidate will play a key role in advancing our company’s mission.

Location: Riverwoods, IL - USA.

Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship (H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, etc.)

The Onsite position must be at the office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, design, review, and performance/availability/reliability/resiliency assessments.
  • Communicate clearly with collaborators about PE services and support needs.
  • Expert and Consultant with diverse technology background.
  • Experience in providing direction on strategy for high risk releases and complex programs.
  • Understands application end-to-end processes and deployment architecture.
  • Experience in driving Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) sessions and definitions.
  • Experience in conducting design review for NFR including Single Point of Failure (SPoF) Analysis and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidate must show expertise in Cloud Native, AWS and SRE, Performance Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in AWS DevOps, Automation, DevOps, Container environment set-up, API Gateway, Container Registry, Docker, AWS Platform, SRE, DevSecOps, DevOps Concepts, DevOps Tools, Apigee API Management, GITHUB, Jenkins.
  • Experience in assessing UI performance and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Expertise Observability tools like Dynatrace, App Dynamics, ELK, Grafana.
  • Proficiency in Java runtimes, Core Java, Garbage collection, JVM parameters tuning.
  • Experience in performance tuning on Application Servers (Tomcat/WAS) and JavaScript.
  • Experience in trouble shooting Performance / Scalability / Availability / Reliability issues.
  • Experience in Thread dump, heap dump generation & analysis.
  • Experience in Capacity Planning.
  • Proficiency in the following tools: Dynatrace or Appdynamics, Jprofiler or JProbe, Load Runner or Jmeter.
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, GitHub, Groovy).
  • Experience in Chaos engineering, Python/Shell scripting and Linux.

Salary and compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $81,337K – $141K depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
