At Cognizant Digital Engineering, a small multi-functional team comprised of a Product Manager, an Architect, Full-Stack Developers, UI/UX designers and Big Data analysts builds higher quality software faster siloed individuals working independently. The Role:
Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Java Developer to serve our diverse base of global clients. As a member of our team, you will build innovative, cloud-based software that powers modern business. An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in a diverse, collaborative, geographically distributed team. Similarly, the ideal candidate is an expert engineer who values the “team”, drives continuous improvement and is unafraid to challenge the legacy status quo with creative cloud-based solutions.
Location: San Leandro, CA.

Roles & responsabilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java, Microservices, and the Spring stack.
- Ensure 100% code coverage for line and branch using JUnit.
- Implement automation testing using BDD frameworks like Karate.
- Collaborate with other technology teams and architects to define and develop scalable design solutions.
- Implement resilient and secure code solutions to enhance customer journey experiences and digital capabilities to automate.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Leverage advanced solving skills to efficiently identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs.
- Help maintain code quality with out sonar issues / vulnerabilities
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Required qualifications
- Proven 10+ experience as a Lead Software Engineer or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Microservices, Mongo DB, Kafka, Spring stack(Spring Boot, Spring frameworks , Spring Data JPA).
- Extensive experience with JUnit and achieving 100% code coverage (line and branch).
- Proficiency in automation testing using BDD frameworks like Karate.
- Strong experience with Mongo databases.
- Development experience with Apache Flink.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
- Strong collaboration skills to work with other technology teams and architects.

The annual salary for this position is between $81,337– $141,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
