Cognizant collaborates with all major hyperscale’s and relevant software vendors in the data and AI space. This includes partnerships with industry leaders such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Snowflake, and Databricks. Our comprehensive approach ensures that we leverage the best tools and technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. Additionally, we are supported locally by our dedicated Centres of Excellence, which operate both nearshore and offshore. These centres provide specialized expertise and resources, ensuring that we can meet the unique needs of our clients and drive innovation in AI and data cost effectively.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and banking data warehouse environments. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and compliant cloud-based data solutions, modernizing our data architecture to support regulatory reporting, customer analytics, and enterprise-wide decision-making. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data governance teams, and engineering to ensure delivery of robust and future-ready data platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Develop cloud architecture blueprints and detailed documentation to guide development and operations teams.
- Select appropriate cloud services and tools based on scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, and resilient, following best practices and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including developers, DevOps, security, and business teams to align cloud strategies.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives from on-premises systems to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Establish governance and operational frameworks for cloud usage, including cost management and resource optimization.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and services to enhance cloud capabilities.
- Monitor and optimize cloud performance, availability, and reliability.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption were beneficial.
- Mentor and guide technical teams on cloud architecture principles and best practices.
- Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested.
About you
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with legacy-to-cloud migrations, deep knowledge of data warehousing principles, and the ability to architect scalable and secure solutions in a modern data ecosystem.
Requirements
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Databases, Identity)
- Proficient in Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep
- Strong knowledge of Azure Active Directory (AAD) and RBAC
- Experience with Azure Virtual Network (VNet), NSGs, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute
- Familiarity with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerization (Docker, Helm)
- Proficient in Azure App Services, Functions, and Logic Apps
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
Advantage
- Hands-on expertise with Snowflake and/or Databricks (including Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, SQL/Python APIs).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing (OLAP/OLTP), and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting (Python/Scala).
- Experience with data migration from RDBMS or data warehouse platforms (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
