Cognizant’s clients look to us for delivery success through technology and the Salesforce team leverages their knowledge and expertise to help drive outstanding results. It’s dynamic and exciting work and we’d love to offer a window into it, so we’ve asked a few of the team members to tell us more.

Read on for some first-hand insights into the role Salesforce plays in our business, our culture of learning and growth, and what it’s really like working with us.

Garima Chaturvedi – Business Solutions Manager

Hi Garima, tell us a bit about your role and what it entails.

As a Functional Architect on digital transformation projects, I play a pivotal role in projects from inception to delivery, and testing to training. I work closely with client PO and SMEs to elicit their vision, business value drivers and requirements. I also on occasion drive scrum ceremonies and perform sprint showcases to stakeholders.

In addition to my project role, I co-lead our consulting practice, in which I drive synergies in consulting methodology across teams. I also onboard and mentor junior consultants, plus help to define individual growth paths.

What emerging technologies and standout projects have you worked on here?

I’ve worked with Salesforce Experience Cloud, Salesforce Service Cloud, Salesforce Sales Cloud, Salesforce Webchat, Salesforce myTrailhead, and Work.com.

We did two projects back-to-back for a leading Australian property group, where I played the role of Engagement and Functional Lead. The first had a tremendous impact on their customer experience, which was previously a very unstructured purchase and leasing journey. The solution we built totally overhauled it, providing consistency and structure for their customers.

The other was a partner portal project that enabled our client to gain far better visibility of their opportunity pipeline generated by their leasing partners or agents. Beforehand, all of the partners and agents were maintaining their own spreadsheets, which gave management little visibility and reporting capability, but they now have a centralised view of their revenue pipeline.

These projects were quite challenging, in part due to tight timelines, and partly because they involved handling stakeholders from different BUs whose requirements were very different in terms of branding and use cases, yet they needed a solution that could be centrally managed.

To meet all these challenges, we had a lot of brainstorming and ideating with stakeholders to give them a view of complexities with clashing requirements, and managed to arrive at decisions that not only met the requirements, but also saved on delivery effort and cost. Ultimately, both projects were big success stories all round.

What do you enjoy most about working on Cognizant’s Salesforce team?

This is truly an environment in which everyone can thrive and contribute. We constantly share best practices and experiences and encourage new product learning and certifications.

I love working with a team of experts who are always striving for continuous improvement in our methodologies and deliveries. Communication is open and everyone is approachable. Everyone really comes together to work through challenges. The best part is you never hear a "no" if you want to take a learning or growth path. It is an awesome set of people we have working here.

Bijay Negi – Technology Architect

Hi Bijay, tell us a bit about your role and what it entails.

I am a Technical Architect. The purpose of my role is to leverage technology expertise to architect mid to large-size solution(s) for clients. I design solutions leveraging single stack, product and platforms, in order to demonstrate product capability and POC, or to showcase features best practices and patterns.

I also maintain and contribute to Cognizant’s knowledge management repository, which is composed of technical solutions, technical best practices, design and coding, plus guidelines and standards. In addition, I’m continually updating my industry certifications and also enjoy identifying and sharing industry trends.

What emerging technologies and standout projects have you worked on here?

Technologies I’ve worked with include Salesforce Social Studio, Heroku, Service Cloud and Sales Cloud.

In 2020, when COVID was at its peak, I had the chance to work on a Contact Tracing, Isolation and Outbreak management project. As a Salesforce Technical Architect, I was heading their Reporting and Analytics Squad from the Salesforce side.

My squad was responsible for feeding accurate and crucial data to their analytical system based on which department was taking decisions. The analytics was also measuring the operational efficiency of contact tracing staff, which was vital at that point. It was thrilling to work for a great cause – what we were doing really mattered.

What do you enjoy most about working on Cognizant’s Salesforce team?

I like that management has a clear vision and are always trying to train and build core competency in those areas. There’s a lot of training going on throughout the year. I also really like getting to know and work with the latest technologies and being engaged with enterprise level projects. It really gives you a chance to challenge your limits.

What emerging technologies and standout projects have you worked on here?

One of my favourite projects was a great one we did for a large supermarket chain’s fruit and vegetable department. The project was about onboarding the Fruit and Vegetable team onto their partner hub’s Salesforce application and digitising the complex pricing process of their fruit and vegetable supply system.

We designed an intuitive pricing supplier UI that made it easier for buyers within the company to approve the pricing and allowed suppliers to view updated information on the partner hub portal. It involved multiple teams due to integration requirements, with a complex design phase and heavy user experience requirements.

By submitting their weekly pricing via a form-based application rather than PDF files, suppliers have been given more transparency and visibility over their pricing quote status and enjoy a far easier, more streamlined experience throughout the process.

Among the technologies I work with at Cognizant are Salesforce Community and the Sales and Service cloud. I have also been exposed to Informatica, webMethods and Apigee, when interacting with teams who used them.

What do you enjoy most about working on Cognizant’s Salesforce team?

I consider myself lucky to work alongside such talented people. Every day there is an opportunity to learn something new. The drive that people at Cognizant have to learn new things is quite inspiring.

Our Salesforce team is like a close-knit family. We all have a strong bond and are always ready to help one another.

I manage delivery for the Salesforce Practice for ANZ. My core responsibilities are to oversee delivery for all projects and programs in the practice, as well as core practice initiatives like hiring and recruitment. I also support employee growth and development.

What emerging technologies and standout projects have you worked on here?

Salesforce is my sole practice, so I work exclusively with Salesforce technologies.

The great thing about my role is that I am able to spread myself across multiple projects. One of the most interesting ones I’ve had was related to the digitalisation of a retail complex in Sydney. I supported the team who were driving a complicated Salesforce transformation engagement discovery phase, which led to a year-long implementation project to make this business digital.

As part of the project, we delivered a single source of truth for customer information that can be used across all areas of the business (Property, Retail, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Site Services). The goal is to help improve customer satisfaction, tenant retention and overall site visitor numbers. This project truly exemplified our ability to enhance our clients’ delivery success through technology.

What do you enjoy most about working on Cognizant’s Salesforce team?

It is an exciting place to be! We’ve had 30% growth since I joined three months ago and continue to grow rapidly. The work is exciting and varied, and the team is very collaborative – always sharing and growing together as a team and a practice.

The dynamic nature of our work means that no two days are ever the same. There is always something to learn, people to meet, or clients to support. It is really great to work in a company that embraces the growth of Salesforce as a platform, and supports individual growth as well as business growth.
