Consultant [Regulatory & Surveillance]

This role is to work on an in-house developed Regulatory & Surveillance platform in Investment Banking Technology as a Business Analyst. This role is based in Mumbai and is part of a global Surveillance reporting team which is spread across Asia, EMEA and North America and reporting to the Asia lead. Candidate is expected to have a strong business analysis background. They will be responsible to onboard data (pre-trade and post-trade) from multiple systems and venues, incorporate data completeness and accuracy checks and provide timely information to internal/external surveillance platforms across Equities, F&O, Credit, Rates (IRS), fixed income Commodities and FX business. The successful applicant will have a proven track record implementing investment banking technology projects and will have a working knowledge of any capital markets products (Cash Eq, F&O, Fixed Income, Money Market, Equities, FX, FX Options, Swaps etc.)

Key Responsibilities (BA-DA)

  • Gather detailed business functional and non-functional requirements from the users
  • Detailed analysis of the requirements and clarify requirements
  • Provide clear and detailed feedback on business requirements document provided by users
  • Agile delivery
  • Perform detailed data analysis by running database queries in SQL environment
  • Liaise with development team and provide on-going clarifications
  • Generate testing plan and test cases
  • Perform functional SIT
  • Perform UAT support and ensure user queries are addressed
  • Monitor test defects and keep the project manager informed of the status
  • Comply with the client Project Life Cycle and internal processes
  • Closely track change requests/ad hoc activities and communicate the impact on a timely basis.

Essential

  • Must have prior experience working for an investment bank, functioning as a business analyst in technology projects
  • Minimum 8-12 years business analyst experience
  • Should have hands-on data analysis (database query skills)
  • Strong communication skills in English – verbal and written
  • Good coordination skills to work in partnership with users, project manager and developers
  • Thorough understanding of SDLC phases and essential documentation in each of these steps
  • Degree from reputed University with good grades
  • Surveillance/data governance/data landing/data validation background needed
  • Heavy on data analysis/ability to handle or query large amounts of data

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience in one of these: Surveillance, Regulatory reporting or data warehousing
  • AWS data querying/AWS practitioner’s course
  • Willingness to work in SQL, Python or relevant tools (Alteryx) that would facilitate requirements analysis and developing business logic.
