As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will make an impact by being at the forefront of driving automation, security, and operational efficiency in the banking and financial sector. You’ll play a meaningful role in ensuring the resilience and performance of critical financial applications by optimizing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and security of financial transactions, regulatory compliance, and customer experience in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. You will be a valued member of our Infrastructure services practice and work collaboratively with our Service Delivery Manager.
In this role, you will
- Develop and implement automation scripts using Bash, Python, Groovy, PowerShell, and JavaScript to optimize deployments and infrastructure management.
- Build and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines, integrating security controls and demonstrating Git for version control, including branch management, merging, and pull requests.
- Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based monitoring solutions using Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, and ELK to ensure system reliability.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, maintain standard security practices, and address blocking issues to enforce alignment with banking industry regulations.
- Lead all aspects of TCP/IP networking, firewall connectivity validation, and system performance tuning to optimize financial transactions and application uptime.
- Coordinate with Development, QA, and Operations to improve system performance, conduct PIV (Production Implementation Verification) checks, and validate infrastructure changes.
- Apply expertise in Nexus and Jenkins for automated deployments, handle partner concerns, and coordinate major maintenance processes (MMP).
- Maintain detailed documentation in Confluence and contribute to continuous process improvements.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)
- A proven track record of 5 or more years in DevOps, TechOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) within the banking, financial services, or highly regulated industries.
- Proficiency in Linux OS, shell scripting, CI/CD tools, cloud technologies (AWS preferred), and monitoring solutions.
- Expert with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and Splunk.
- Detailed understanding of security standard methodologies, vulnerability management, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
- Top-tier knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, NAT, and security protocols.

Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Halifax, NS.
