Healthcare Collector – Bad Debt (Remote)
Location: Remote (Work-from-Home)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am- 5:00pm EST and one day 11:30 am -8pm EST (can change) 2 Weeks training
Experience: 1 to 2 years (Experience in collections needed and Patient Calling preferred)

Summary
As a Healthcare Collector-Bad Debt, you will make an impact by Assist our client’s customers with delinquent accounts to secure payment while providing customer service and keeping good customer relationships intact for our clients. You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with the team, or other stakeholders and teams
Assist our clients' customers with their outstanding balance accounts to secure payment while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive customer relationships.

Essential Functions
- Handle inbound calls as a representative of the Collection Agency to arrange debt repayment based on the patient's financial situation and client repayment guidelines, using credit card, check, or obtained insurance. Record all updates and acquired information on accounts. Making payment plans according to policies
- Understand and utilize HIPAA and TCPA guidelines during each call.
- Ensure all required statements have been sent for accounts handled and request statements as necessary.
- Properly manage patient disputes by obtaining all pertinent information, noting the dispute on the account, and escalating to a supervisor as necessary.
- Creating an strategy with the patient to make payment and collect
- Assist in making outbound calls when required.
- Perform other activities and responsibilities as assigned.

- Oral Communication Skills: Speak clearly and effectively; ability to listen and seek clarification.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Identify and analyze information to develop solutions.

- Hard collections: Plaining and obtaining payment from patient
- Tech resourceful: able to set up laptop, connect to VPN, and follow basic troubleshooting steps if needed
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma.
- 1-year Collections: Bad Debt and Delinquent accounts
- 1-year HER Software Epic or similar
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree.
- Two years of related experience.
- Collections in healthcare
Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until Jun 27, 2025.
The hourly rate for this position is between $16.00 – 19.00 per hour + monthly Bonus, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Bonus: This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary monthly bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
