About The Role
You are a technical Subject Matter Expert in Life Sciences R&D with responsibility for growing our presence in key life sciences accounts across North America. In this role, you will manage our go-to-the-market sales strategy, and in collaboration with our account executive team, identify, qualify and close new business opportunities and expand our stakeholder footprint within the assigned accounts.
You are a dynamic and strategic-minded technical expert with a proven track record of capitalizing on new business opportunities, establishing business solutions, and driving revenue growth within the Life Sciences space.
In this role, you will:
- Lead regional account strategy and build strong relationships with R&D stakeholders across Research, Process Development, Clinical, Pharmacovigilance, and Regulatory.
- Develop and execute account growth plans, including cross-selling products and expanding client relationships.
- Ensure revenue and margin targets are met, driving business success.
- Sell R&D transformation solutions, leveraging technical expertise.
- Maintain CRM system updates in collaboration with Client Partner teams.
- Develop strategic project pursuit plans to expand client engagement.
- Negotiate and review customer contracts, overseeing commercial negotiations and contract management
- Align with global sales teams to drive customer engagement strategy.
- Proactively manage client relationships, leading sponsor meetings and action items.
- Analyze customer needs and articulate Cognizant offerings with tailored solutions.
- Lead technical and commercial proposal development for key opportunities.
- Monitor customer satisfaction, ensuring ongoing value delivery.
- Support lead generation efforts with marketing teams and participate in marketing events within designated regions.
Work Model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position. This role requires up to 30%-40% travel, and the remaining time in our Bridgewater, NJ office. What you need to have to be considered
- A minimum of 15 years of experience; primarily in a client facing role (client management, sales) at top consulting / software / IT Services / 3rd party analytics / or as an executive at product company.
- Strong background in R&D with deep subject matter expertise in Regulatory Compliance.
- Strong experience with Regulatory Information Management Systems (RIMS).
- Experience and proven track record of dealing with IT, business, C level executives.
- Well-rounded consultant with the ability to cross-sell, up-sell across all functional areas.
- Ability to connect the dots & craft / tell effective & engaging stories to earn client respect.
- Strong contracting / negotiating abilities.
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral.

The annual base salary for this position is between $155,000 - $170,000. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
