Corporate Counsel – Commercial Transactions, Technology
We are looking for a creative and smart team player to join our Commercial Legal team in EMEA, with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in an international law firm or an equivalent in-house position in a multinational corporation, who is passionate about making an impact and contributing to the transformation of our business in the same way as helping our clients to be successful.
We are a team of 60 lawyers in 13 countries across the EMEA region. Many of us are commercial and technology lawyers and we have specialists in many fields, including privacy, employment law, M&A, and corporate compliance.
You will be an integral part of the continued rapid growth of Cognizant’s European operations. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of business transactions, from consultancy contracts to multi-million-dollar complex technology (robotics, cloud, etc.) or business outsourcing deals. Your focus will be on supporting business in the Benelux region, and you will be expected to regularly support other large markets in Continental Europe. You will interact with clients in a broad range of industries and work on all phases of deals, from proactive shaping, proposal/bid review stages, right through to final negotiation, escalation to senior Cognizant leadership and working on post signature matters. While commercial law experience is essential to this role, you must come with a commercial mind set, and a taste and eagerness for technical innovation. Your experience in working on IT contracts, advising on GDPR and IP related issues must be accompanied by the ability to balance legal risks with commercial and operational needs of the business. You should be able to demonstrate strong, effective and impactful communication skills with people at all levels and backgrounds, being able to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment.
· Dutch master’s degree in law
· Excellent Dutch (native) and English language skills (written and spoken). Ability to work in another language (e.g. German or French) is a plus, but not a requirement
· Specialized expertise in public tender bids is welcomed
· Strong negotiation skills
· Ability to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment
· Attention to detail: Ability to review and analyze complex legal agreements, contracts, and documents with a high level of attention to detail.
· Team player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
