Role Outline
This role reports to the Release Train Engineer. The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating all aspects of scrum ceremonies and ensuring successful product delivery. This includes sprint planning sessions, backlog grooming sessions, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives. This role will be responsible for resolving impediments and clearing the backlog. The Scrum Master will also act as a coach to increase agility and support working with the scrum methodology and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the scrum team capacity plan, scrum board, sprint backlog, velocity charts and burn down charts. The M1 Scrum Master will normally look after more than one team.
- Facilitate daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings
- Address and eliminate impediments that require support from other teams and guide the team on how to remove impediments and provide appropriate issues escalation to the necessary levels
- Manage risks and issues proactively, including resources, costs, and systems, and recommend appropriate solutions
- Ensure teams achieve their objectives keeping the team focused on their goals
- Responsible for coordination between teams (DevOps, Architects and other Scrum Masters) and assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency and collaboration
- Guide and coach scrum teams to follow Agile/Scrum principles and practices and reinforcing SAFe framework
- Ensure scrum teams are using best practice agile delivery tools and templates for all processes including documenting and tracking user stories
- Report on the status of delivery using agreed reporting metrics e.g. burndown
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ experience working as a Scrum Master or in end-to-end agile process delivery (agile transformation)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent is mandatory
- Certification in Scrum Master CSM or SAFe is mandatory
- Experience in relevant business/development support, agile delivery, user story creation, writing, and estimation
- Knowledge of project, program and portfolio management practices, following agile methodologies, as well as a good understanding of product management principles
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
