Primary skills
· To have working knowledge on Conducting Assessment & Develop the Deliverables in Modernization projects
· Should be Technical Expert in IMS DB / DB2, IMS DC
· Should have strong working experience in Mainframe Modernization projects with IMS DC, IMS DB applications Replatforming/Rehosting in Microfocus, Raincode platforms or Rewrite into modern technologies and IMS DB to DB2 LUW or other any relational database in cloud
· Exposure on Integrating IMS DC as APIs with distributed systems.
· Should have strong knowledge on the structure of the IMS database, and expertise in solutioning to assess the impact in case of database expansion or field expansion.
· Should have experience in resolving, providing solutioning for technical issues in the Modernization projects.
· To be strong in fundamentals in Mainframe Technologies – Cobol, DB2, JCL, VSAM
· To have prior exposure to different types of modernization projects such as rehosting, re-platforming, refactoring etc.
· Must be able to analyse the existing applications/code and propose effective solutions based on the project requirements.
· To be able to understand the requirements and develop new code for the project needs.
· To be able to identify for opportunities for automation and develop tools for the same.
· Technical Delivery Skills
o Should be able to lead and manage the development/modernization team and guide them on Architectural Solutions & If Required be Hands On
o To able to Develop any Prototype/Do any Proof of concept for complex solutions or scenarios as a part of the legacy Modernization Projects
o Should be able to review or prepare any sort legacy modernization artifacts like technical design documents/architecture documents, etc., created by the team members.
· Innovation/Automation Skills
o Must be able to do proper requirements gathering for any Tool Initiatives
o Must be able design or develop any required tools to expedite the legacy modernization consulting/execution projects
o Must be able to evaluate & suggest any kind of third party tools related to legacy modernization work
· Soft Skills
o Good communication, analytical and presentation skills, problem solving skills and learning attitude.
o Should have Good Client Handling Skills
Secondary skills
· Good to have: CICS, Assembler, REXX.
· Knowledge on different Mainframe Software’s like Printers, Schedulers, Source Control Management to propose the target state replacements.
· Knowledge of cloud environments (preferably AWS).
· Knowledge of various Cloud platforms & their technical aspects
· Working Knowledge of modernization tools – Microfocus, Heirloom, TmaxSoft rehosting platforms.
· Able to troubleshoot the technical issues, and use the debugging tools like Xpediter, dump analysis
· Good to have certifications of cloud platforms at solution architect level.
Roles and responsibilities:
· Associate will be part of the Legacy Modernization team.
· Associate is also responsible for the deliverables for those consulting projects which will include the technical assessment of the application, Tools development, Application data analysis.
· There would be requirement for customization in the framework for different system applications based on the technology they are using, and associate shall be able to understand the requirement and will modify the framework accordingly.
· Associate will also be involved during the actual implementation phase of the project to provide better guidance and best practices to improve the overall quality of Cognizant’s deliverable to the client in projects.
· It would be an added advantage if associate has prior experience on Modernization Projects / has Partner solution experience with Microfocus, Heirloom, Tmaxsoft, AWS Blu Age, GCP G4 etc.
