Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with 10 to 12 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Software AG Mainframe Natural / Adabas and Adabas along with a strong background in the Utilities domain. This hybrid role requires a proactive individual who can manage projects effectively and ensure successful outcomes.

Core Duties

  • Manage the Software AG Adabas database environments on the z/OS platform
  • Manage Windows based Software AG products: Designer, Target adapter (replication) and webMethods
  • Upgrade Adabas and associated Software AG products, including Natural One (for application development), Complete, EntireX Broker (IBM), and Event Replicator
  • Upgrade our non Software AG products including N20 (change management) and Auditre (auditing facility)
  • Perform mainframe file maintenance (Predict) – data dictionary and metadata management tool
  • Adding files, keys, fields and maintaining mainframe files.
  • System database backups for restoration, including protection logs.
  • Have advanced knowledge of Adabas utilities and functions
  • Support Adabas within a Disaster Recovery environment.
  • Provide information for Sarbanes Oxley reporting, processing cyber access requests, create database fields and add fields/keys when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning sessions to ensure project goals are met within the specified timeframe and budget.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation to meet project objectives.
  • Track project performance specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Manage changes to the project scope project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members individual strengths skill sets and experience levels.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills.
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Develop spreadsheets diagrams and process maps to document needs.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time within the scope and within budget.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Possess a strong background in Software AG Mainframe Natural / Adabas and Adabas.
  • Holds a high degree of ability to resolve hardware/software issues to maintain 24x7 operation.

  • Strong capability to identify system or process deficiencies and recommend solutions.

  • Ensures the latest release of applications are implemented in a timely manner with minimal or no disruption to IT operations.

  • Maintains and provides continuous improvement of the processes, standards, policies, working methods, and tools.

  • Ensures appropriate tools and processes are in place to have a development/production environment that is reliable and reproducible.

  • Ensures tool configuration consistency across development, stage, testing, sandbox, and production environments.

  • Estimates work effort requirements efficiently and appropriately Participates in ongoing production support and end user support.

  • Provides user training and documentation, updating existing and created new documents, both technical and end-user

  • Reviews and make necessary changes to the Information Systems Division Disaster Recovery Support Manual annually.

  • On Call 24 x 7 rotation with the other Mainframe Analysts to provide 24 x 7 coverage

  • Have extensive experience in the Utilities domain.

  • Demonstrate excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.

  • Exhibit solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.

  • Hold a Bachelors Degree in the appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.

  • Have a proven ability to solve problems creatively.

  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Exhibit the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Show strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model.

  • Exhibit strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 04/05/25.

The annual salary for this position is between $73,350 - $133,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
