About the Role
Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Senior Healthcare Business Analyst with 5+ years of experience in business analysis, requirements management, and process optimization within healthcare environments. In this role, you will drive business analysis and planning initiatives, working closely with stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to translate complex business needs into actionable, scalable solutions.
You will be part of a cross-functional team supporting high-impact healthcare programs, contributing to business planning, process improvement, and digital transformation efforts. The role requires expertise in documenting requirements (BRDs, FRDs, user stories), conducting gap analysis, and supporting solution design and implementation while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and CMS.
The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering high-quality outcomes, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing member and provider experiences. You will collaborate with business and technical teams in an Agile environment, actively participating in ceremonies and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles/Responsibilities:
· Lead business analysis and planning activities for healthcare initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and regulatory requirements
· Engage with business stakeholders, product owners, and SMEs to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements
· Translate healthcare business needs into BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, and functional specifications
· Support strategic planning, operational planning, and roadmap development initiatives across healthcare programs
· Perform current‑state and future‑state analysis, gap analysis, and impact assessment for process improvements
· Collaborate with technology teams to ensure accurate solution design and implementation aligned with requirements
· Support UAT planning and execution, including test scenario creation, defect tracking, and business sign‑off
· Ensure all solutions comply with healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, internal policies)
· Provide stakeholder communication, status reporting, and executive‑level updates as needed
· Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
· Drive process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and member/provider experience
· Maintain comprehensive documentation and knowledge artifacts to support transparency and continuity
· Act as a trusted advisor to business and leadership by providing data‑driven insights and recommendations
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills
· Strong experience in Healthcare Business Analysis with a focus on business planning, requirements management, and process improvement
· Expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation (BRD, FRD, user stories, process flows)
· Experience working with healthcare systems and data sources (claims, eligibility, enrollment, provider, billing, care management)
· Proficiency with business analysis tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Excel, Visio/Lucidchart, and PowerPoint
· Experience supporting UAT planning, execution, and defect management
Conceptual & Enterprise Skills
· Strong understanding of healthcare business models, operating structures, and planning frameworks
· Ability to translate business strategy and objectives into actionable requirements, roadmaps, and execution plans
· Experience with process modeling, gap analysis, impact analysis, and business case development
· Strong stakeholder management skills, including interaction with business users, product owners, and technology teams
· Experience working in Agile / Scrum and Waterfall environments
· Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 68,422- $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
