About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Basis Technology Architect to design, optimize, and govern complex SAP landscapes across a global enterprise environment. This role focuses on ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing platforms that support critical business operations while driving continuous improvement and innovation in a hybrid work model.
Work Model: Hybrid – New Jersey
In This Role, You Will
- Design and implement robust SAP Basis architectures ensuring high availability, performance, and security
- Oversee end-to-end SAP landscapes including installations, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance across environments
- Provide expertise in client strategy, transport management, and job scheduling to ensure controlled system changes
- Monitor system performance, conduct tuning, and lead capacity planning efforts to meet service targets
- Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and network teams to deliver integrated and reliable SAP solutions
- Implement and manage SAP security including roles, authorizations, encryption, and patching
- Define and execute disaster recovery strategies, backup policies, and failover planning
- Create architecture documentation, runbooks, and operational standards for consistent execution
- Translate business requirements into scalable SAP Basis solutions supporting transformation initiatives
- Evaluate new SAP technologies and recommend innovation roadmaps for automation and cost optimization
- Partner with operations teams to improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
- Collaborate with data teams to ensure system designs support data integrity and reporting needs
- Drive R&D initiatives to pilot emerging tools and modernize SAP platforms
What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- 10–12 years of SAP Basis experience managing complex multi-system landscapes
- Strong expertise in system installations, upgrades, kernel updates, and client management
- Hands-on experience with SAP performance tuning, workload analysis, and capacity planning
- Experience working with operating systems and databases in SAP environments
- Knowledge of enterprise data models and their impact on SAP architecture and analytics
- Proven ability to work in hybrid/global delivery environments
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience with large-scale enterprise SAP transformations
- Exposure to R&D or innovation initiatives within SAP or adjacent technologies
- Strong understanding of automation, monitoring tools, and modern SAP operations
- Ability to drive architecture governance and standardization across global teams
Certifications Required
- SAP Certified Technology Specialist – System Administration (or equivalent SAP Basis certification preferred)

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $100,890 – $159,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program based on performance.
