Senior Test Automation Engineer (Cypress, Playwright & TypeScript)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer (Cypress, Playwright & TypeScript) to design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for modern web applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Cypress, Playwright, and TypeScript, along with a solid understanding of software testing best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and data validation using SQL. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve test coverage, enhance automation efficiency, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

About the Role
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing our test automation capabilities by building and maintaining robust automation frameworks and automated test suites. You will partner with developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to understand application architecture, identify automation opportunities, and ensure product quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

In This Role, You Will
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Cypress, Playwright and TypeScript
• Write and execute simple to medium SQL queries to validate data and ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand enterprise tech stacks and develop automation solutions.
• Design, develop, and implement automation frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
• Analyze and troubleshoot test failures, identify root causes, and provide solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and testability.
• Continuously improve and optimize test automation processes and tools.
Work Model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC. Required Qualifications
• 5-7 years of experience in test automation development role using Cypress, Playwright and typescript.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until September 13th, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $50,000 - $92,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
