GCP Architect
About the role
As a GCP Architect, you will make an impact by designing and engineering resilient data solutions on Google Cloud that support transportation and logistics operations, from scalable data pipelines to optimized AlloyDB and BigQuery environments. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with transportation planners, operations teams, and product stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
• Design and implement robust data architectures on Google Cloud that support transportation and logistics analytics and reporting with high reliability for operational decision making.
• Develop scalable data pipelines using Python and Cloud Pub/Sub to ingest, transform, and distribute logistics data such as shipments, routes, and tracking events across critical systems.
• Optimize BigQuery data models and queries to ensure efficient processing of large transportation datasets while meeting performance, cost, and compliance objectives.
• Configure and manage AlloyDB instances to support transactional and analytical workloads that store routing, capacity planning, and delivery status data for logistics operations.
• Implement comprehensive Google Cloud Monitoring dashboards, alerts, and metrics to proactively observe data workflows and quickly resolve issues impacting logistics processes.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Parsippany, NJ. What you need to have to be considered
• 8-9 years of experience with GCP, including Google Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Pub/Sub
• 8-9 years of experience with GCP BigQuery
• 6-7 years of experience with Python programming and optimization techniques
• 5+ years of experience with AlloyDB
• Understanding of performance testing concepts
These will help you stand out
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources (e.g., order management, shipment tracking, warehouse systems) into unified BigQuery datasets
• Background in data quality checks, reconciliation logic, and validation rules for large-scale datasets
• Experience partnering with cloud infrastructure teams to tune resource configurations for resilience and scalability

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $130,000- $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
