About the role

As a Sr. Consulting Manager, AI Engineering, you will make an impact by designing, building, and scaling AI-powered solutions that improve software development efficiency, automation, and engineering productivity. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product, architecture, and engineering stakeholders to develop backend services and integrate AI-assisted workflows using Claude Code, Cowork, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

In this role, you will:

  • Design and develop scalable backend services using Python and/or JavaScript with Node.js

  • Build and integrate AI-powered developer productivity solutions using Claude Code and Cowork

  • Implement and extend MCP-based integrations and workflows to support AI-assisted software development

  • Develop APIs and service integrations while troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining AI-enabled development platforms

  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define solutions, drive delivery, and improve engineering productivity through AI-enabled workflows

Work model – Hybrid

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring four days per week in a client or Cognizant office and one day working remotely. What you must have to be considered

  • 10+ years of experience in hands-on implementation experience with Claude Code

  • Hands-on experience with Cowork

  • Strong backend development experience using Python and/or JavaScript with Node.js

  • Practical experience implementing integrations and workflows using Model Context Protocol (MCP)

  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating AI-powered developer workflows and productivity tools

  • Strong understanding of API development, service integrations, and backend architecture

  • Experience working with Git-based development workflows

  • Experience working within Agile software development environments

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, architecture, and engineering teams

  • Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain backend services and AI-enabled development platforms

  • Ability to independently design, build, and deploy scalable backend solutions

These will help you succeed

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience

  • Experience implementing AI developer tools, AI coding assistants, or other AI-enabled engineering productivity solutions

  • Experience building multiple MCP integrations within production environments

  • Understanding of LLM ecosystems, AI agents, prompt engineering, and developer workflow automation

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

  • Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and software delivery practices

  • Experience mentoring engineering teams on AI-assisted software development practices

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and improve developer workflows

  • Ability to translate AI capabilities into scalable solutions that deliver measurable improvements in engineering efficiency

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 10/28/2026

The annual salary for this position is between $140,000 to $152,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
