About the Role
As a Pega Lead Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing scalable Pega applications and cloud-enabled integration solutions that support cards and payments operations within a financial services environment. You will be a valued member of the Pega delivery team and work collaboratively with business analysts, product owners, architects, infrastructure teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality digital process automation solutions.
In This Role, You Will
Lead the design and implementation of Pega applications that support digital workflows, process automation, and cards and payments business operations.
Develop and optimize Pega data models, integrations, and reusable components to support scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical designs and application features.
Guide team members in resolving technical challenges while promoting Pega development best practices, quality standards, and consistent delivery approaches.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance production applications through performance tuning, root cause analysis, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week at the client site in Vienna, VA. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
6-9 years of hands-on experience as a Pega Developer, including case management, rules configuration, UI development, and process automation.
Strong expertise in Pega data management, integrations, connectors, services, and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience developing, deploying, and supporting Pega applications in cloud environments.
Experience working within financial services, preferably supporting cards and payments business processes.
Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
These Will Help You Stand Out
Experience with transaction processing, dispute management, and customer servicing workflows in cards and payments environments.
Experience designing reusable Pega frameworks and enterprise-scale application architectures.
Experience supporting production environments and conducting root cause analysis for complex incidents.
Strong understanding of regulatory, security, and compliance requirements within financial services organizations.
Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.
Certifications
Pega Certified Lead System Architect or Pega Certified Senior System Architect preferred is a plus.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $102,000 - $116,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to plan terms.
