About the Role

As a Senior AI Solutions Engineer (Backend/Python/Typescript) you will make an impact by designing, building, and deploying AI-powered software solutions that solve complex business challenges for our clients. You will work directly with client stakeholders, product teams, and engineering leaders to transform business requirements into scalable, production-ready applications.

This role is ideal for experienced software engineers with a strong foundation in cloud technologies, modern application development, and emerging AI platforms. You will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

In This Role, You Will

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend applications and services using Python and TypeScript.
  • Build and integrate AI-powered solutions, agentic workflows, and automation capabilities using modern AI tools and frameworks.
  • Develop APIs, integrations, and data services using REST and GraphQL architectures.
  • Deploy and support applications in AWS cloud environments utilizing CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments.
  • Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver business value.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing applications while maintaining high standards of performance, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly prototype and scale innovative technology solutions.

Work Model

  • Charlotte, NC
  • Iselin, NJ
  • Frisco, TX

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering production-grade applications, backend services, APIs, and data solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, containerization technologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and agentic AI frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience working directly with clients and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and deploying production-grade AI agents and workflow automation solutions.
  • Experience with OpenAI, Claude, Amazon Kiro, Agent SDKs, or similar AI development platforms.
  • Experience within consulting, professional services, or other customer-facing engineering environments.
  • Exposure to Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience delivering rapid prototypes and scaling them into enterprise-grade applications.
  • Familiarity with modern software architecture and platform engineering practices.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $70,000 and $130,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
