The Role
Cognizant is seeking Procurement Associate for Buyer role for IT Hardware Sourcing – India
• Considerable knowledge of purchasing practices including best verses lowest price quote, closed bid process, total cost of purchase, cost savings of purchases, and public purchasing restrictions.
• Good knowledge of competitive vendor base across all IT Hardware categories.
• IT industry-based category buying experience as Cognizant is an IT based Organization this is a mandatory
• Market knowledge on IT Sourcing.
• Process orientation person and aligning to the Procurement Process and Policy. Good understanding of PR to PO process and working experience in basic ERP for Supply Chain / Procurement.
• Experience working with Ariba.
• Experience in managing RFPs, RFI, RFQs and Reverse Auctions
• Extensive experience in supplier relationship management and establishing supplier performance management framework.
• Knowledge on supplier due diligence & on boarding process and tools
• Excellent skill in supplier negotiations and negotiation strategies
• Hands on experience on source selection techniques and fair value requirements
• Knowledge on local tax and regulations related to procurement.
• Ability to handle confidential material judiciously.
Duties and Tasks
• Prepare specifications for the purpose of soliciting bids/proposals from qualified vendors; distribute invitations for bids/proposals and set bid/proposal opening dates; receive and evaluate bid for successful vendor; maintain file records.
• Convert requisitions; issue purchase orders; approve ordering; distribute purchase orders to the appropriate Vendor Partner.
• Negotiate with the suppliers on day-to-day purchase requirements and ensure soft dollar/ hard dollar savings to the organization.
• To strategize to find cost-effective deals and suppliers
• Drive implementation of Procurement policies and procedures
• End to end contract execution and timely renewal of contracts
• Manage supplier relationships and conduct periodic business reviews
• Design, develop and execute RFx
• Participate in procurement audits
• Interact with various business groups in contract execution process
• Prepare supplier recommendation summary
• Ensure compliance to Global Procurement policy
• To discover the best ways to cut it procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in growth and people

○ Guides and motivates the business groups to nurture and develop process culture across service lines
○ Influence & collaborate with business groups to ensure process and policy compliance
● Team Management Responsibilities
○ Mostly this is an individual contributor role
Essential Qualification and Skills Requirements
● Qualification
o Graduate with minimum 8 to 9 years of experience in Procurement handling, Sourcing, purchasing, contract management, vendor relationship & direct Vendor interactions for IT Hardware Sourcing areas.
o Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in strategic sourcing/ buyer related roles
o Experience working with varying ERP Platforms
● Skills
o Self-driven and Effective interpersonal skills in forming and maintaining effective working relations with vendors, Cross functional teams.
o Excellent Project Management Skills.
o Analytical skills including searching for products, contracts, vendors or services.
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to meet the needs and objectives of the company
o Effective and Efficient in problem solving and ensure the end to end cycle time is as per the accepted SLA....every time.
o Should be good in English Speaking and writing
o Experience in MS office and responsible for reporting key procurement parameters.
o Flexible in office time as the Procurement Leaders are present globally across different time zones.
o Change management skills
