In this role, the successful candidate performs review of billing errors and edits related to cardiology. This position will be responsible for working with clearing house rejections and making sure claims are billed out within 24 hours.

Highlights:

  • Ensures appropriate entry of demographics with patient details like patient ID numbers, patient name, date of birth, gender, marital status, social security number, address (physical and mailing addresses), home telephone number, work mailing address and telephone number.
  • Ensures appropriate entry of guarantor details with guarantor name, date of birth, gender, marital status, social security number, address (physical and mailing addresses), home telephone number, working mailing address and telephone number.
  • Ensures appropriate entry of insurance details with insurance name and address, insurance identification number, group name/group number, policy effective and termination dates, name of insured (subscriber), date of birth and gender of subscriber, relationship of the insured to the patient/guarantor, financial class (FC).
  • Ensures appropriate entry of charges with date of service, billing provider, rendering provider, place of service, admission date, referring physician, prior authorization/referral number, procedure code (CPT) and the number of units performed, modifiers, and diagnosis code.
  • Ensure productivity and quality standards are adhered.
  • Highlights any process improvement ideas.
  • Update the daily workflow forecast process with any challenges.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience with specialty in physician cardiology billing
  • Associates or Bachelors preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Documented technical skills: Excel, Payer Portals, and Claims Clearing houses.
  • Understanding of federal and state regulations as well as payer-specific requirements and taking appropriate action accordingly.
  • Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness by making recommendations and communicating trends and issues to management.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and excellent communication skills

Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $19.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
