Cognizant Technology Solutions is looking for Senior Mainframe Application Engineer to join in our team of IT professionals in a permanent role. Role: Senior Mainframe Application Engineer

Experience: 10+ years of strong experience

Location: The candidate must be willing to work in a hybrid model from the Client’s location in Brookfield,WI, Hopkins,MN, Chicago,IL

Roles & Responsibilities:

· The Engineering Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of IBM Mainframe systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

· With a focus on CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and Cobol, the role requires a strategic approach to managing projects and teams.

· Experience in Cards & Payments is beneficial, enhancing the ability to drive innovation in financial services. The position is hybrid, with occasional travel required.

· Candidate should also have very good knowledge and be hands-on in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2

· Need to support offshore teams

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of IBM Mainframe systems ensuring optimal performance and reliability. With a focus on CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol the role requires a strategic approach to managing projects and teams. Experience in Cards & Payments is beneficial enhancing the ability to drive innovation in financial services. The position is hybrid with occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering team in designing developing and maintaining IBM Mainframe systems to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Oversee the implementation of CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol technologies to optimize system functionality and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the team fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate domain expertise in Cards & Payments enhancing service offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices to maintain system integrity and security.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge in IBM Mainframe technologies.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize user experience.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners to ensure seamless integration and support for system enhancements.
  • Prepare and present reports on project progress and system performance to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in IBM Mainframe Utilities CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol showcasing technical proficiency.
  • Possess a strong understanding of Cards & Payments domain providing valuable insights into industry trends and practices.
  • Exhibit excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Showcase strong analytical and problem-solving abilities enabling effective troubleshooting and system optimization.
  • Display exceptional communication skills facilitating clear and concise interactions with stakeholders and team members.
  • Hold a bachelors degree in computer science engineering or a related field ensuring a solid educational foundation.
  • Maintain a commitment to continuous learning and professional development staying abreast of industry advancements.

Certifications Required

IBM Certified Specialist - CICS Transaction Server IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2
