The Role:
Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Java Developer to serve our diverse base of global clients. As a member of our team, you will build innovative, cloud-based software that powers modern business. An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in a diverse, collaborative, geographically distributed team. Location: Buffalo, NY.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Implement and maintain microservices architectures that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
- Optimize application performance, focusing on speed and scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, following best practices for software development.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring the stability and reliability of the backend systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our systems.
Qualifications:
- 8-12 years of experience in Java 17 – 21 programming & Spring Framework.
- Experience with RESTful services, Oracle databases, and microservices architecture.
- Strong hands on experience in developing SQL , Store Procedures.
- Strong understanding of version control systems like Git , Maven
- Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Shell scripting
- Have prior experience of working in Actimize ( Financial Crime ) , preferably SAM (Suspicious Activity Monitoring) area.
Must-Have Skills:
- Java Programming: Expert level knowledge in Java 17 – 21 language, and its application in backend development, ecosystem and best practices.
- Spring Framework: Proficient in Spring, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data. Proficiency in using Spring for dependency injection, transaction management, and other enterprise-level functionalities.
- RESTful Services: Skilled in designing, develop and implementing robust RESTful APIs.
- Oracle SQL: Strong experience in working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries / Store procedures.
- Microservices: Experience in developing and maintaining microservices architectures, deployment, scaling, and monitoring.
- Unix : Shell Scripting
Soft Skills:
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to coding and system design, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Time Management: Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Should have very good communication skill and should be able to assess and analyze work with Client independently

The annual salary for this position is between $81,337 – $141,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
