Sr. Java Developer w/Actimize Exp (Remote)
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Java programming (17 – 21 version), Spring Framework, and microservices. This role encompasses leadership responsibilities, including different development enterprise level web applications. By ensuring robust and efficient system operations, the candidate will play a key role in advancing our company’s mission.
Location: Buffalo, NY - USA.
Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship (H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, etc.)
The Onsite position must be at the office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Implement and maintain microservices architectures that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
- Optimize application performance, focusing on speed and scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, following standard processes for software development.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring the stability and reliability of the backend systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our systems.
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree or an equivalent 7+ years of IT experience in Java 17 – 21 programming and Spring Framework.
- Experience with RESTful services, Oracle databases, and microservices architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience in developing SQL, Store Procedures.
- Strong understanding of version control systems like Git, Maven
- Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Shell scripting.
- Have prior experience of working in Actimize (Financial Crime), preferably SAM (Suspicious Activity Monitoring) area.
Must-Have Skills:
- Java Programming: Expert level knowledge in Java 17 – 21 languages, and its application in backend development, ecosystem and standard processes.
- Spring Framework: Proficient in Spring, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data. Proficiency in using Spring for dependency injection, transaction management, and other enterprise-level functionalities.
- RESTful Services: Skilled in designing, develop and implementing robust RESTful APIs.
- Oracle SQL: Strong experience in working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries / Store procedures.
- Microservices: Experience in developing and maintaining microservices architectures, deployment, scaling, and monitoring.
- Unix: Shell Scripting.
Soft Skills:
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to coding and system design, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Time Management: Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $81,337K – $141,500K depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
