Job Title: Automotive Dealership Root Cause Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI with occasional local travel to South East Michigan Dealerships
What you’ll be doing:
The Root Cause Engineer is responsible to lead electrical issue identification and resolution for all electrical features on a program line to ensure successful vehicle support while working with various Engineering Support teams that include systems, wiring, design release and validation engineers, Program Management, and dealership teams as required to support vehicle programs. Responsibilities include:
· Rapid troubleshooting / triage of vehicle electrical systems including
o Software Issues
o Calibration Issues
o Wiring issues
o Electrical component issues
o Vehicle networking issues
o Vehicle System issues
· Drive identified issues to closure
·
· Provide preliminary triage of the ECU Software log events, primarily for Infotainment and Connectivity modules, provided from the customer via In-Vehicle trigger. Collaborate with module Engineers to identify existing or new issue.
· Provide response to the short-listed dealers within 24hrs, acknowledging the issue.
· Identify the ECU Software for all ECUs on the target vehicles. Recognize the dependencies of other ECU Software to be updated along with Infotainment and Connectivity modules.
· Collaborate with Over The Air Software deployment teams to deploy Infotainment and Connectivity module Software and other dependent ECU Software as needed to the targeted vehicles.
· Investigate mis-build or incorrect configurations contributing to module programming issues.
· Work on-site at Ford facilities collaborating with dealership, Engineering, and OTA teams.

What you need for this position:
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelors in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
· Knowledge of CAN based communication and tools
· Knowledge of OTA (Over the Air Updates).
· Experience with multimeters and oscilloscopes
· Outstanding communication and organization skills
· Self-starter with ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of CAN-FD
· Knowledge of Ethernet protocol
