Job Title - Sr Data Scientist-7 + years of experience

As a Senior Data Scientist at Cognizant, you will be at the forefront of transforming legal operations through advanced AI and machine learning. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment that blends the agility of a start-up with the scale of a global enterprise. Your primary focus will be on developing production-grade AI solutions that address complex legal and business challenges using large-scale natural language datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy LLM-based applications tailored to legal and compliance domains.
  • Build and maintain high-quality datasets and pipelines for legal document processing, annotation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with legal experts and cross-functional teams to ensure AI models meet domain-specific requirements.
  • Conduct rigorous experimentation and performance evaluation of AI/ML and GenAI models.
  • Translate complex product requirements into scalable software solutions.
  • Implement best practices in software development, including code reviews and CI/CD for ML pipelines.
  • Ensure ethical AI practices and alignment with business objectives in all deliverables.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong foundation in machine learning techniques such as dimensionality reduction, clustering, embeddings, and sequence classification.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Proficiency in NLP tools and libraries including spaCy, word2vec, Flair, BERT, and Keras.
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and benchmarking using LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.
  • Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Understanding of data modeling and experience with relational, NoSQL, and vector databases (e.g., Postgres, Elasticsearch, ChromaDB).
  • Familiarity with distributed computing systems such as Spark, Ray, or Scala is a plus.
  • Experience in ML Ops/AI Ops, API development, and containerization is highly desirable.
