Role: Sr. Product Specialist - Visual Product Modelling System (VP/MS)

Location: KL, Malaysia

Summary:

We are currently seeking for a Visual Product Modelling System (VP/MS) rules modeler and problem solver, who can work within a project environment developing product and business rules models as required as well as troubleshooting, configuration, and operation of the existing VP/MS platform. This will involve interacting and dealing with subject matter experts in other technologies like Salesforce, Java, Mule, and mainframe-based Policy Administration System.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties required as part of the IT Core Systems BAU Support team on a day-to-day basis. This will include:
  • Pricing calculation, Product, and business rules development with VP/MS to meet product and business specifications
  • Testing models developed with VP/MS
  • Working closely with the project, development, and test teams to ensure service operational requirements are understood and implemented.
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct your work
  • Apply current skills and knowledge to identify improvement opportunities in other areas of the business
  • Being client focused and able to communicate at a business level. You should be able discuss technical matters with non-technical people
  • Applying past modelling experience to assist the team and area generally to make long term technical improvements to existing models
  • Applying and adhering to best practices with regards to system maintenance and configuration.
  • Actively contribute to the reduction of the defects over time.
  • Train other team members on VP/MS configuration/ development practices as needed. Help document and development best practices for administration and support.
  • Committed to being part of a team
  • Provide VPMS support during core business hours (Mon-Fri) and be available for out of hours work as deemed necessary on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years VP/MS modelling
  • Working knowledge of the basics of product modelling including formula syntax, attributes, testing within VP/MS.
  • Experience with VP/MS Workplace.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience troubleshooting problems and capable of providing support when integrating systems such as web services and API's
  • JIRA/Confluence admin, Bamboo, WIKI.
  • Use of an incident logging system such as Heat or Service Now.
  • Knowledge of Styler module is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of various data interchange formats such as JSON or XML.
  • Experience working as part of an integration or other IT project.
  • Experience working in a team in a Technology development environment.
  • Experience working in the Financial Services or Insurance industry is an advantage.
  • Logical and analytical with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Knowledge of multiple project methodologies: Including Waterfall/Iterative SDLC and Agile, e.g. Scrum.
