Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated AVI Load Balancer Support Engineer with expertise in VMware NSX and the VMware Cloud Foundation VCF stack to join our Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Team In this role you will be responsible for managing supporting and optimizing load balancing solutions while ensuring seamless integration with virtualized environments powered by VMware technologies.
Responsibilities
AVI Load Balancer Administration
Design deploy and manage AVI Load Balancer VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer solutions within a hybrid cloud environment
Configure and optimize virtual services VIPs including SSL termination compression caching and advanced loadbalancing algorithms
Ensure high availability and reliability of AVI controllers and service engines through proactive monitoring and performance tuning
Monitor and troubleshoot AVI load balancer components including virtual services pools and health monitors
Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments for load balancer services
Use analytics tools to monitor traffic patterns identify bottlenecks and implement datadriven solutions to optimize performance
Perform capacity planning to forecast demand ensure scalability and implement autoscaling solutions to handle traffic spikes
Conduct regular performance testing and tuning to maintain optimal load balancer operations Work closely with crossfunctional teams including network administrators and Network Security team to align with Network security standards
Act as a subject matter expert for AVI Load Balancer and provide technical guidance to teams on best practices
Develop and maintain integration workflows between AVI Load Balancer vCenter and NSXT infrastructure
NSXT Networking and Security
Implement and support NSXT networking features including distributed firewall logical switches and VPN services
Provide expertise in microsegmentation security groups and advanced NSXT security configurations
Integrate AVI with NSXT for seamless traffic management and security enforcement
Integrate AVI Load Balancer with VMware Cloud Foundation VCF stack including NSXT vSphere and vSAN
Manage and troubleshoot NSXbacked segments T0T1 routers and overlay networks for seamless connectivity and scalability
Collaborate with VMware and networking teams to design and implement robust solutions for virtualized environments
Configure and validate firewall rules to ensure secure communication between AVI controllers service engines and backend servers
Implement WAF Web Application Firewall rules and DDoS protection to safeguard applications and infrastructure
Manage SSLTLS certificates ensuring secure HTTPS communication and compliance with security policies
Manage and rotate SSLTLS certificates for secure HTTPS communication on VIPs
Configure and validate security policies WAF rules and DDoS protection measures
Lifecycle Management and Troubleshooting
Perform upgrades patches and maintenance for AVI controllers and service engines
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to connectivity latency and performance
Document root cause analyses and create knowledge base articles to improve operational efficiency
Assess capacity and forecast traffic demand to implement autoscaling solutions
Optimize resources to meet performance needs during traffic spikes
VCF Stack Support
Maintain and troubleshoot VCF components including vSphere vSAN NSXT and VMware Aria Suite formerly vRealize
Collaborate on VCF upgrades patches and feature rollouts
Ensure optimal integration of AVI load balancers within the VCF environment
Operational Excellence
Ensure seamless integration of AVI Load Balancers with application platforms such as web servers API gateways and containerized environments
Provide support for application teams in setting up health monitors configuring traffic rules and optimizing backend server pools
Act as a bridge between infrastructure and application teams to ensure alignment and performance
Collaborate with DevOps Networking and Security teams to streamline processes
Document system designs configurations operational procedures and troubleshooting guides
Stay updated on industry trends best practices and emerging technologies in virtualization and networking
Evaluate and recommend new features or tools to enhance the efficiency and security of AVI deployments
Drive automation initiatives to streamline deployment monitoring and management tasks
Incident and Problem Management
Diagnose and resolve incidents related to AVI load balancers NSXT and VCF stack
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement longterm solutions
Provide timely escalation and coordinate with VMware support as needed
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
3 years of handson experience with AVI Load Balancers NSX Advanced Load Balancer
3 years of experience with VMware NSXT and its advanced networkingsecurity features
Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere vSAN and VMware Aria Suite vROps vRA
Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation VCF stack operations and troubleshooting
Networking Skills
Proficient in networking concepts TCPIP routing switching VLANs BGP OSPF
Strong understanding of load balancing algorithms SSL offloading and traffic shaping
Automation and Scripting
Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible Terraform or PowerCLI
Basic scripting skills Python PowerShell or Bash for operational tasks
Problem Solving.
Certifications Required
AVI Certified Specialist VmWare NSX certification
