About the role:
The Finance Manager for Poland is responsible for finance and accounting activities within Cognizant Poland. This role entails ensuring timely and accurate closing and management reporting and preparing and reviewing reconciliations of the involved G/L accounts. While there are no direct reports, assistance is provided by the Finance Shared Service Center (SSC) located in Budapest. The Finance Manager has full control and visibility over all accrual and prepaid accounts, reviews VAT returns, manages the annual local statutory audit, and leads projects as needed.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes,
- Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly P&L and BS fluctuations, providing high-quality commentary and monthly management reports,
- Prepare/review monthly balance sheet reconciliations,
- Maintain financial records per accepted policies,
- Review accounting journals, approve cash management journals, and oversee Accounts Payable and T&E processing for Poland,
- Initiate manual wire transfers, review bank reconciliations, and clear open items,
- Liaise with internal teams, auditors, and external service providers,
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the controller,
- Lead process improvements, integration/merging of acquired entities, and e-invoicing implementation,
- Support the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements,
- Review VAT returns accurately and timely - Assist in Tax Audits, Statutory Financial Statement audits, and local reporting requirements.
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance,
- At least 5 years of experience within a financial environment (preferably a multinational environment),
- Language skills: Fluent written and spoken English and Polish is essential,
- Computer Literate, especially MS Excel and People Soft / Hyperion preferable,
- Knowledge of accepted local and IFRS / US-GAAP accounting practices and principles,
- Taxation experience is an advantage,
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills,
- Team player,
- Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload,
- Ability to meet deadlines,
- A proactive approach to work, improve internal processes,
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
