About the role
As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise applications that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the technology team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, business analysts, database teams, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, and React.js to deliver scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
- Build and optimize RESTful web services that enable secure, efficient integration between internal platforms and external partners.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and application designs.
- Develop and support applications utilizing Oracle databases and Kafka, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability for high-volume environments.
- Implement application deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting processes within Linux-based environments to maintain system stability and availability.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce development best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance software quality and delivery efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex application, database, and integration issues, performing root cause analysis and driving timely resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and deployment guidelines to support ongoing application maintenance and support.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring up to 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Calgary- Canada.

What you need to have to be considered
- 7+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Core Java and Spring Boot
- Strong experience in Java Full Stack Development.
- Strong experience designing and developing and consuming REST Web Services/APIs
- Proficiency with React.js and modern front-end development practices.
- Experience working with Oracle databases, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of Kafka or other event-driven messaging technologies.
- Solid understanding of Linux environments, including application deployment, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Experience performing complex problem analysis, root cause investigation, and resolution across application, integration, and database layers.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, cross-functional environment.
Experience deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting applications in Linux environments.

Canadian Pay Transparency Statement
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $ 64,800 – 95,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
