Senior Java Developer (Python)

About the role

As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise applications using Core Java, Python, PL/SQL, and microservices. You will work collaboratively with business analysts, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into secure, reliable, and high-performing technical solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using Core Java, Python, PL/SQL, and microservices architecture.
• Develop and integrate RESTful and SOAP web services to support communication across internal and external systems.
• Design and optimize PL/SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, and database solutions with a focus on performance.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support activities.
• Support CI/CD, version control, testing, documentation, deployment, and production release activities using Git and related DevOps tools.

What you need to have to be considered

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Core Java application development.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js and React.js for development.
• Strong experience with Python for backend services, automation, or API development.
• Advanced PL/SQL experience, including stored procedures, packages, triggers, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications, including REST and SOAP API development and integration.
• Experience with Git, SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, unit testing, and production support.

These will help you stand out

• Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with API Gateway technologies.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until October 2, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 and $100,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
