Job Summary
This hybrid role for an execution systems senior engineer focuses on designing implementing and optimizing industrial data solutions using AVEVA PI Historian to support manufacturing and supply chain operations enabling high availability of plant information improved decision making and sustainable efficiency gains across global sites while collaborating with cross functional teams in a day shift environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust AVEVA PI Historians that reliably capture real time plant data to support critical production and supply chain decision making across global manufacturing operations.
- Configure and maintain data collection interfaces and tags within AVEVA PI systems to ensure accurate high quality and timely acquisition of operational information from diverse industrial control assets.
- Develop and optimize PI Asset Framework models that clearly represent manufacturing assets process hierarchies and supply chain entities to enable meaningful analytics and standardized reporting.
- Create and maintain event frames and calculations in AVEVA PI environments to transform raw operational data into actionable performance indicators and insight for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations manufacturing engineering and planning teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable historian solutions aligned to enterprise standards.
- Implement and support data integration between AVEVA PI platforms and upstream or downstream systems such as MES ERP quality and planning tools to enable end to end process visibility.
- Define and enforce historian governance practices including naming conventions data retention strategies and security controls to ensure consistency and compliance across all installations.
- Troubleshoot complex AVEVA PI incidents and performance issues by conducting systematic root cause analysis and implementing durable corrective actions that minimize downtime.
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation covering system architecture configuration procedures operational runbooks and support guidelines to enable sustainable operations.
- Partner with data and analytics teams to enable advanced use cases such as production optimization demand planning and predictive quality based on PI data sets.
- Guide and mentor peers and junior team members on best practices for historian configuration data modeling and industrial connectivity to uplift overall team capability.
- Engage with business stakeholders in manufacturing and supply chain to prioritize enhancement backlogs and deliver incremental value through well planned historian improvements.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure that AVEVA PI deployments follow corporate security baselines while maintaining high availability and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement of monitoring and alerting for PI systems so that potential capacity stability or data quality issues are proactively identified and resolved.
- Participate in hybrid work model ceremonies and cross site collaborations ensuring effective communication and smooth delivery while primarily operating in a day shift schedule.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate extensive hands on experience in designing configuring and administering AVEVA PI Historian environments for complex industrial operations.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of PI components such as PI Server PI Asset Framework PI Vision and data interfaces with the ability to tailor solutions to varied plant contexts.
- Apply solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows to design historian structures that accurately reflect real world operations and constraints.
- Utilize experience in supply chain or logistics domains to align data models and metrics with inventory fulfillment and planning objectives when applicable.
- Employ strong skills in industrial connectivity and automation concepts including OPC field devices and control systems to ensure reliable data collection into AVEVA PI.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scripting or query based configuration for calculations and analytics within PI environments to support advanced reporting and insight generation.
- Communicate complex technical topics in a clear concise manner to both technical and nontechnical partners enabling informed decisions and effective collaboration.
- Apply structured problem solving methods and incident management practices to resolve historian issues within defined service levels for critical manufacturing sites.
- Show experience working in hybrid global teams coordinating deliverables across locations and time zones while adhering to standard operating procedures and quality expectations.
- Maintain a continuous learning mindset by staying up to date on AVEVA PI capabilities industrial digital solutions and data governance practices that can benefit the organization.
