Cognizant is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Developer to support SAP development, enhancement, and integration activities across global projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project stakeholders, functional teams, and technical teams to deliver high-quality SAP solutions in alignment with architectural standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure business applications are developed in alignment with architectural standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Contribute programming expertise within project teams across the analysis, design, and development of SAP reports, interfaces, conversions, forms, and user exits.
- Create and enhance data sources, infosets, and queries.
- Design, develop, and support integrations with legacy and third-party systems using LSMW, BAPI, IDOC, RFC, BDC, and call transaction updates.
- Analyze and implement OSS Notes as required.
- Adhere to IT Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
- Apply advanced debugging techniques to identify and resolve issues.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation where applicable.
- Work within SAP ECC 4.7 and 6.0 environments as an SAP ABAP on HANA developer utilizing ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in HANA Studio/Eclipse.
- Track and communicate project progress to project management, proactively identifying risks or blockers and driving corrective actions.

- 3–5 years of SAP ABAP development experience.
- Proven ability utilizing:

- ALE
- RFC calls
- IDOCs
- BDC
- Business Objects
- Classes and Methods
- Adobe Forms
- Smart Forms
- SAPScripts
- Data Dictionary
- ALV
- Experience with implicit and explicit enhancements, screen exits, and menu exits.
- ABAP debugging skills and workflow experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following SAP modules:
- SD/SM
- FI/CO
- MM/PP
- QM
- Strong implementation knowledge of:
- Native SQL
- ADBC
- External Views
- ABAP Core Data Services (CDS)
- AMDP Procedures
- Text Search
- ALV on HANA
- Practical experience creating custom and enhanced standard CDS Views and AMDP Classes based on business requirements.
- Practical experience implementing CDS annotations.
- Strong knowledge of SAP HANA Code Performance Rules and Guidelines.
- Strong implementation knowledge of OData using CDS and AMDP.
- Workflow support and debugging experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of NetWeaver 7.0.
- Knowledge of BI.
- Experience with Java and XML.
- Relevant technical certifications.
