We are seeking an experienced Java Application Support Engineer to provide high-availability L2/L3 application support, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements for core Supply Chain applications. In this role, you will monitor critical integrations, batch jobs, and message queues, drive root cause analysis for production incidents within strict SLAs, and deliver minor full-stack enhancements to optimize system reliability and operational performance.
Note: This is primarily a production support role (about 90% support, 10% development).
Work Schedule
- Support hours are aligned to PST.
- Weekend on-call is required. For the first few months, the rotation is every alternate weekend. After that, after couple of months it moves to once every 4 weeks.
In this role, you will
- Provide L2/L3 application support for Supply Chain applications.
- Monitor application health, batch jobs, APIs, message queues, and integrations.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents within defined SLA timelines.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes.
- Handle critical production issues during business and off-hours support.
- Support release validation and post-deployment monitoring.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, database, middleware, SAP, and business teams during incidents.
- Minor enhancements and development across the full technology stack.

What you need to have to be considered:
- Backend Engineering: Strong expertise in Java (8/11/17), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Frontend Development: Practical experience with React JS, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap for frontend updates and troubleshooting.
- Database Management: Proficiency in writing SQL queries and troubleshooting relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, or DB2).
- Observability & Support: Hands-on experience with application monitoring and ITSM tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and ServiceNow.
- Supply Chain Integration: Familiarity with supply chain integration patterns, message queues, middleware platforms, and enterprise integrations (e.g., SAP).

Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 70,000 - 95,00 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
