Job Summary
This role as Subject Matter Expert in accounting focuses on finance record to report general ledger processes and core finance and accounting domain activities. The individual supports accurate financial close ensures compliance with global policy optimizes hybrid ways of working and partners with stakeholders to deliver reliable data that informs decisions and advances sustainable business performance.
Responsibilities
- Drive end to end record to report activities for general ledger ensuring timely posting reconciliations and period close that result in accurate and reliable financial statements aligned to company standards.
- Manage daily general ledger operations by reviewing journal entries account reconciliations and accruals to reduce errors and support a smooth month end and quarter end close.
- Perform variance analysis on profit and loss balance sheet and cash flow results to identify drivers of performance and provide clear insights that enable informed business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and finance and accounting policies by consistently applying documented procedures and highlighting control gaps for remediation.
- Collaborate with finance business partners and operational teams in a hybrid work environment to clarify accounting treatments resolve open issues and support continuous process improvement.
- Standardize record to report workflows and documentation by refining templates checklists and operating guidelines that enhance efficiency and support global scalability.
- Support audit requirements for general ledger and record to report processes by preparing schedules explanations and evidence that facilitate timely closure of internal and external reviews.
- Analyze system postings integrations and data flows across finance platforms to detect discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions that protect data integrity and reporting quality.
- Provide subject matter guidance to colleagues on complex finance and accounting topics including general ledger structures cost allocations and provisions to build overall team capability.
- Contribute to transformation initiatives by proposing enhancements in automation data validation and exception handling that reduce manual work and improve cycle times for closing activities.
- Engage with cross functional stakeholders through virtual and office based interactions to gather requirements align expectations and ensure financial information supports wider organizational goals.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of accounting standards and corporate finance practices to ensure that record to report processes remain current and support responsible and transparent reporting to society.
- Document recurring issues root causes and adopted solutions in knowledge repositories so that future teams can leverage proven practices and sustain continuous improvement in record to report operations.
Qualifications
- Apply strong expertise in finance and accounting principles to interpret transactions assess their impact on general ledger balances and ensure that all records accurately reflect business reality.
- Leverage hands on experience in record to report general ledger operations gained over three to six years to handle complex closing scenarios and prioritize activities under time constraints.
- Use solid understanding of core domains such as accounts payable accounts receivable and fixed assets to validate upstream inputs and improve the overall quality of end state ledger results.
- Demonstrate proficiency in enterprise resource planning finance modules and reporting tools to execute postings run reconciliations and generate analysis that supports decision makers.
- Employ analytical and problem solving skills to investigate mismatches data quality issues and unexplained variances and to recommend clear corrective actions to stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly in written and verbal form across hybrid channels to explain accounting outcomes share process updates and align with colleagues in different locations and time zones.
- Show adaptability and learning orientation by embracing new finance technologies enhanced reporting standards and revised operating procedures that strengthen the effectiveness of record to report.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications include Chartered Accountant Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant relevant to finance and accounting.
