Guidewire Developer (Java, Spring Boot, APIs)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Guidewire Developer with strong expertise in Guidewire PolicyCenter/ClaimCenter/BillingCenter, Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Guidewire applications and integrations while collaborating with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver scalable insurance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance Guidewire applications, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter.
• Build and maintain integrations between Guidewire and external systems using RESTful APIs and web services.
• Develop Java-based backend services using Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Configure and customize Guidewire components, including PCF screens, workflows, business rules, validations, and product models.
• Develop and support Guidewire Cloud integrations and API-based solutions.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, defect resolution, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and QA teams in an Agile environment.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement application improvements.
• Participate in release planning, deployment, and post-production support.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 4+ years of Guidewire development experience (PolicyCenter preferred).
• Strong hands-on experience in:
  • Java/J2EE
  • Spring Boot
  • REST APIs
  • Microservices
  • Guidewire Integration and Configuration
  • Gosu Programming
  • SQL/Oracle
  • Git, Jenkins, CI/CD
• Experience with Guidewire Cloud platform is preferred.
• Strong understanding of insurance domain processes (Policy, Billing, Claims).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Guidewire Associate or Specialist Certification.
• Experience with Kafka, AWS/Azure Cloud platforms.
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of API security, OAuth, and authentication frameworks.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Nice to Have

• Guidewire Cloud Certification.
• Experience with event-driven architecture.
• Experience with PolicyCenter modernization and API transformation initiatives.

Work Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite, 3 days/week or as per client requirement)

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000- $120,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
