Job Title -Business Systems Analyst (EDW)
Location - Hybrid- Toronto
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong experience in Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) initiatives within the Auto Insurance domain. The role focuses on translating business needs into data requirements, supporting EDW design and delivery, and ensuring data accuracy across policy, claims, billing, and underwriting subject areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between Auto Insurance business stakeholders and data engineering / QA teams
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for EDW and downstream reporting
- Translate business needs into:
- Source‑to‑Target mappings (STTM)
- Data transformation rules
- Business logic and calculation rules
- Support data warehouse design discussions
- Facts, dimensions, grain, and conformed dimensions
- Define and validate Slowly Changing Dimension (SCD Type 1 & 2) rules
- Perform data analysis using SQL to support requirement validation and issue triage
- Support data quality, reconciliation, and UAT activities
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure:
- Business rule coverage
- Auto insurance scenarios are correctly validated
- Assist with impact analysis for changes across EDW, reporting, and regulatory outputs
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos)
Required Skills & Experience
Data & EDW
- Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts
- EDW architecture, fact & dimension modeling
- Star / Snowflake schemas
- Experience working with SCDs, especially:
- Type 1, Type 2
- Effective date handling, current flags, history preservation
- Proficiency in SQL
- Data validation, analysis, reconciliation
- Ability to write and interpret complex queries
Business Analysis
- 6+ years of experience as a BSA / Data Analyst in large data programs
- Strong experience in:
- BRDs, FRDs, user stories
- STTM and data mapping documentation
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Domain – Auto Insurance (Must Have)
Hands‑on experience with Auto Insurance data domains, such as:
- Policy (Quotes, Endorsements, Renewals, Cancellations)
- Claims (FNOL, Loss details, Payments, Recoveries)
- Billing / Premiums
- Coverages, Vehicles, Drivers
- Reference & Master data (LOB, State, Coverage codes)
Exempt Roles (up to AD Level)

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $ 90K- 107K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
