Senior Quality Engineer (Wealth Management SME)

In this role, you will lead the end-to-end Quality Assurance (QA) delivery for Wealth Management initiatives within our MFDA/CIRO-regulated platforms. You will serve as the primary QA lead, ensuring that all software solutions meet the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and performance. You will be responsible for defining the testing strategy and overseeing a diverse team of onshore and offshore testers to ensure successful, risk-free production releases that support our advisor platforms and client-facing services.

In this role, you will

  • Drive testing for core Wealth Management business functions, including Client Onboarding, KYC, Advisor Platforms, Trading, Portfolio Management, Book of Records, Securities Processing, and Compliance Reporting.
  • Develop and own the comprehensive Test Strategy, Test Plan, estimation, and approach, covering functional, integration, system, regression, UAT, and automation testing.
  • Ensure rigorous regulatory compliance validation for MFDA/CIRO requirements, investor protection policies, audit controls, data privacy, and risk management processes.
  • Drive test automation and Quality Engineering (QE) adoption using Selenium, API frameworks, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines to improve release efficiency.
  • Perform complex data validation and reconciliation testing using SQL to ensure the accuracy of client portfolios, transactions, and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate with Business, Product, Development, and Compliance teams to review requirements, define scenarios, and maintain full requirements traceability.
  • Provide leadership governance through QA dashboards, release readiness assessments, and presentations to senior management.
  • Track and report automation metrics to optimize regression coverage, execution efficiency, and overall test effectiveness.
  • Lead onsite-offshore QA teams, managing resource planning, test execution, defect governance, and status reporting to stakeholders.


Required skills

  • 8+ years in QA/Test Management with 5+ years in Canadian Wealth Management.
  • Strong knowledge of MFDA/CIRO regulations, Securities Operations, KYC, Portfolio Management, Trading, and Advisor platforms.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale QA delivery, including test strategy design, execution management, and onsite-offshore team coordination.
  • Advanced SQL skills for backend data reconciliation and reporting validation.
  • Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, JIRA, ALM, and test automation (Selenium, API testing).
  • Skills in integrating automated suites into continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Experience integrating test suites into pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) to enable Continuous Testing.
  • Ability to track and report on automation metrics (e.g., regression coverage, execution efficiency) to drive process improvements.
  • Experience managing audit controls, data privacy, and regulatory risk management within a financial services environment.

Preferred skills

  • Subject matter expertise in Insurance, Wealth Management, Investment or Portfolio Management.
  • Experience leading large-scale modernization or digital transformation programs.

Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 70,000 – 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.
