This role is for a Sr Software Engineer with six to ten years of experience focusing on Springboot microservices and core Java development in a hybrid work model. The professional will design build and optimize scalable backend services that power secure and reliable enterprise applications ensuring high performance maintainability and alignment with business goals.

Location: Sunnyvale, CA. This role is hybrid and not remote.

Experience: 6 -10 Years

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $90,000/Year to $101,000/Year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust Springboot microservices that deliver secure and reliable business capabilities for large scale enterprise applications
  • Develop clean and efficient core Java code that adheres to internal coding standards and supports long term maintainability and reuse
  • Collaborate with product owners and architects to translate complex functional requirements into feasible technical designs using Springboot and microservices patterns
  • Optimize microservice performance by fine tuning data access logic and reducing resource consumption to improve response times and throughput
  • Implement comprehensive unit tests and integration tests for microservices to ensure high quality releases and reduce regression risk across environments
  • Troubleshoot production issues in hybrid working conditions by analyzing logs and metrics and applying structured problem solving to restore services rapidly
  • Integrate microservices with internal and external systems through secure application programming interfaces and consistent data contracts
  • Apply secure coding practices in core Java and Springboot components to protect sensitive information and meet corporate security and compliance expectations
  • Participate in code reviews by providing clear and constructive feedback to improve code quality and promote shared engineering standards
  • Partner with DevOps teams to support continuous integration and deployment pipelines for Springboot microservices and ensure smooth delivery cycles
  • Document technical designs interface contracts and operational runbooks so that services can be easily understood supported and enhanced by other engineers
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices for Java microservices development and help them grow their technical skills and confidence
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide realistic effort estimates and progress updates so that delivery timelines and expectations remain transparent


Qualifications

  • Demonstrate extensive hands on experience in designing and developing Springboot microservices architectures including service decomposition and resilience patterns
  • Exhibit strong proficiency in core Java with emphasis on object oriented design collections concurrency handling and error management
  • Apply practical knowledge of relational or document based databases when building microservices including query optimization and schema evolution strategies
  • Utilize experience with version control and collaborative development practices to manage source code and support team based delivery
  • Show familiarity with cloud ready application design concepts such as stateless services configuration management and scalable deployment models
  • Display working knowledge of testing frameworks and quality techniques to ensure that services are robust and maintainable over time
  • Value prior exposure to containerization and orchestration tools which helps in running Springboot services in modern platform environments
